Festival of Fashion, Pure London, in partnership with its trends partner Unique Style Platform, has revealed a snapshot of next season’s future trends in preparation for bringing them to life at the show taking place from 9th – 11th February at Olympia London. Based on intelligence provided by Unique Style Platform, visitors to Pure London will be presented with the key trends for the AW20/21 buying season during regular daily trend presentations and via catwalk shows on the Pure London Runway Stage. Visit Pure London for the complete AW20/21 trend overview.

    HIBERNATE

Colour: Delicate and inviting colours add a sense of beauty and warmth to cosy winter dressing. Creamy neutrals, a chalky denim blue and soft steel ground the palette, while lilac, rose and grape are flushed with femininity. Iced apricot is an important shade for the season

    Hibernate
    Fabric:
Comfort and tactility are key, with chunky Aran knits, rich calendered wools and heavy weight cotton twills that are soft to the touch.

Denim is fine and gentle, in super light or worn grey washes. Sheer layers, gauzy tulle and structured satin adds a feminine touch.

Texture: Texture is a strong focus, with fabrics creating a sense of incubation from the outside world. Low pile faux fur, teddy, shearling, brushed wool, bouclé, chenille and felt are snug and sensory. Bedspread quilting and padding are key, as are gently embossed surfaces.

Print & Pattern: Print takes a step back to make way for surface and texture. Quiet, hand sketched patterns make a subtle statement. Florals are elegant and refined, with hand painted finishes, scattered placements and subtle shadows.

    ATTUNE

Colour: Colour is natural and homespun, adding a sense of warmth to the otherwise minimal and clean aesthetic. Rich shades underpin the palette, working alongside tinted pales. Bitter chocolate, burgundy, praline, ochre and a burnt spice brown add depth, while creamy custard yellow is a fresh highlight.

    Attune
    Fabric:
Function is key, with matte finishes and understated quality creating a subtle statement. Proofed cottons, poplins and waterproof heavy-duty gabardine drills are practical, while full leather looks, menswear suiting and pinstriped fabrics add a touch of subtle luxury. Denim is either a flat deep indigo or crisp white.

Texture: Texture is subtle and restrained, with practical cord, fluid plush velour and suede. Marled knits and natural toned space dyes create speckled effects, while mixed ribbing adds surface interest.

Print & Pattern: Pattern comes through in heritage checks, oversized windowpane lines and contemporary argyle knits. Oversized scale, fabric mixing and check-on-check styling make classic fabrics look new.

    OPULENCE

Colour: Sumptuous, jewel colours create a luscious palette, giving a contemporary spin to royal maximalism. Combinations of vivid crimson, maroon and raspberry are used in bold tonal statements, while tangerine adds a touch of drama. Orchid, pearl and deep violet are luxurious and rich.

    Opulence
    Fabric:
Shine and opulent surfaces create an over the top mood where excess reigns. Luxury is channelled through pleated satin, lace, fluid gold lamé, sumptuous devoré, gilded jacquards and sparkling fine gauge lurex.

Texture: Plush and sumptuous velvets are the key message for texture, appearing either crushed, as patterned devoré or layered in tonal jewel shades. Faux fur adds a touch of rock star style, in animal skin patterns or monochrome stripes.

Print & Pattern: Pattern makes a bold statement, clashing and combining historical references. Bold florals, wallpaper foulards and baroque ogee repeats are inspired by luxury interiors, while houndstooth checks and tartan are given a new life. Shine and surface are added to prints through metallic jacquard weaves and intense beading.

    NU-TECH

AttuneColour: Neon brights and unexpected colour clashes create a disruptive story, not for the fainthearted. Electric lime, saturated apple, orangeade, hot fuchsia and acid yellow are so bright they almost glow, while black, peach, technical grey and midnight blue anchor the palette in reality.

Fabric: Performance and flexibility is key, as nylon, lightweight sport technicals and neoprene continue to be important. PVC, plastic and patent leather are still go-to options for high shine surfaces, but new material technologies drive the development of innovative synthetic fabrics, even creating those that change and glow.

Texture: Continuing the emphasis on sports fabrics, perforation and mesh create texture, as do geometric folds and subtly embossed pattern. Fun and playful faux fur is still a key textured surface, with two tone colour and dyed tips looking new.

Print & Pattern: Print adds to the digital, futuristic mood, with abstract neon colour, screen glitch effects, micro geos and fluid stripes appearing computer generated. The tie dye patterns from last season become even more hyper, as do oversized florals and comic book style graphics.

Offering over 1,300 of the latest collections across the entire industry, visitors to Pure London and Pure Origin from the 9th – 11th February 2020 can explore the full fashion supply chain under one roof – creating the only fashion trade show in the UK offering this unique experience.
