1. What is your story and your becoming of a model?
I started modelling at age 3 after being scouted at a Mom and Tots event. I did a test photoshoot and joined an agency and got my first comp cards. When I was 6, I entered the Little Miss Calgary pageant and won the title for 2016. I started runway modelling in 2019 and my first show was in Vancouver Kids Fashion Week. I then walked in Toronto Kids Fashion week a few months later. I was very excited to have the opportunity to then walk in New York, Paris and Milan Fashion weeks in September 2019 and February 2020, becoming an international runway model. I have modelled locally for clothing companies and also worked as a fit model, for sizing for a well-known clothing brand.
2. What awards has you won in the past, present or will in the future?
I have received awards for community service, including the 2019 Diana Award, 2018 Rising Star Influencer Award from True Beauty Foundation, 2018 Top Twenty Under 25 Entrepreneur Award from Think for Actions, 2018 Great Kids Award from the Alberta Government, 2017 Volunteer Award from the Federal Government, and more. I am the 2020-2021 Titleholder for Miss Junior Regal World, 2019 National Canadian Young Calgary and 2016 Little Miss Calgary. Currently, I am a nominee for the IdealMeHumanitarian award and for the Servus Feel Good Movement award. I am a Youth Ambassador for hundrED, an educational organization based in Helsinki, and for 1Girl, a global organization which empowers girls. I am also a Youth Ambassador for Canada for International Youth Society and for the U.K. based clothing line Camellia Couture. I am the youngest member of Engineers without Borders-Calgary City Chapter.
3. At your age, what advice can u give to young aspiring individuals (especially the youth of our generation), in the fashion industry, concerning body image and mental health?
About body image, you should not compare yourself to others. You are beautiful as you are. You should work with designers who respect all body types and who don’t engage in body shaming. You should work with people who you respect and who respect you. Also, its important to remember that many images have been heavily edited and that models often don’t look like that in person.
4, What is your favourite designer?
My favorite designer is Coco Chanel, who has a really inspiring story.
5, Do you find performing enjoyable to you at such a young age?
Yes, I love to express myself and my style. I love getting my hair and makeup done and wearing beautiful clothing! I love the excitement of walking down the runway.
6, What is your biggest dream?
My dream is to attend Harvard University.
7. Which career path do you think you’ll choose when you grow older?
I’m interested in medicine and science, but I’m not sure yet what I will plan to study in the future.
8, How have you come this far in your career? And what hardship have you had to face?
I am with an amazing agency, Patti Falconer International. They gave me my first opportunity to walk in a runway show. I also got the incredible opportunity to walk in Milan, New York and Paris fashion weeks from Debbie Holden, of Camellia Couture. I have taken many modelling classes and attended the Faces West modelling convention twice, in Vancouver, Canada. I have worked hard over the past 8 years. Nothing comes right away, it usually takes years of hard work, and step by step, you will get close to your goals. My focus in modelling is not to become famous or get to the top; its just to have fun, enjoy myself and meet people! This takes away a lot of pressure. Rejections are always hard, but I’ve learned that it’s a normal part of the industry and I don’t take it personally.
9, Would you like to further your career even more and how do you plan to do that?
Yes, I am planning on taking more courses. I am enrolled in the Coco Rocha Model Camp in February 2021, to learn more about posing from the ‘Queen of Pose’ herself. I will be walking for two designers at New York Fashion Week in February 2021 and in Madeira Fashion Week in September 2021. I hope to walk in London and Dubai Fashion Weeks in the future as well!
10, Do you believe your career choice will not only affect you in a positive way, but others?
Yes, I believe that my story can inspire others. I have had incredible experiences, such as being on a billboard in Times Square during New York Fashion Week. I want to share my experiences to show what is possible. I also like to share my opportunities with others so they can also have a chance. I believe there’s enough for all of us.
11, Who is your inspirational role model in and outside of the fashion industry?
My biggest role model is Malala. She has done incredible things for girls’ education. In the fashion industry, I would say Coco Rocha and Naomi Campbell.
12, Who would you like to thank the most for always being there for you in and outside of your career?
I would like to thank my mom for always being there for me. My dad has also supported me by travelling to New York with me for Fashion Week last year. My parents have always supported my dreams. They help me to try things that I’m interested in, and to take new courses to expand my knowledge.
