– Premier Inn celebrates work relationships with new TV launch –

29 September 2017: It’s official; as a nation we now spend more time per year with our colleagues than our best friends, parents, siblings and even partners, reveals a new survey from Premier Inn . In fact we spend so much time together that having a work buddy is the ultimate office new status symbol with two thirds of Brits (67%) revealing they spend time with their colleagues regularly in evenings and weekends and a quarter introducing colleagues to their ‘real’ family and friends. Not stopping at that, 40% of Brits have even invited their work buddy to their actual wedding.

But what makes a work buddy so special? The survey reported that the top benefits of these relationships include having fun on work trips (18%), knowing how you take your tea (14%),  listens to your dating disasters (22%), has your back in meetings (21%), covering for each other when running late (22%) and always having someone to go to lunch with (21%).

The survey also revealed the UK’s favourite work buddies with Ant and Dec topping the poll followed by Philip Schofield & Holly Willoughby, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, Mel & Sue with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen making up the top five.

Premier Inn is celebrating these special relationships with Chapman & Steele; it’s latest blockbuster TVC. Building on the success of 2016’s A Great Place to Start, Premier Inn is launching a series of three cinematic-style TV ads, the first of which debuts in September. Warm and upbeat, Chapman and Steele keeps its tongue firmly in its cheek as it follows the story of two colleagues overnighting in a Premier Inn ahead of an important meeting. Although fancying themselves as a pair of stylish renegade buddy-cops, it’s quickly revealed that they are actually printer salesmen…nevertheless expect some serious one-upmanship, fist bumps, a less-than-slick bonnet slide and of course, an iconic 80s soundtrack. From vanity mirrors to hearty breakfasts and the bedroom itself; the advert reinforces the message that Premier Inn is a Great Place to Start your day.

Emily Frank Premier Inn commented: “We spend more time at work than anywhere else consequently, we know our work colleagues better than almost anyone. When you’re with someone for eight hours every day, five days a week, you know the ‘real’ person. From saying thank you for yet another cuppa before 10am to psyching you up right before your yearly review and nudging you to wake up during that three hour long presentation, we all have that one person in our lives that knows us better than our own family and friends.”
