RUMIA ‘If I Ever See You Again’

Galician artist, Berlin-based ‘Rumia’ releases her latest single ‘If I Ever See You Again’ via Fluctua Records. The song is the third single from her upcoming album. Produced by Manuel Colmenero (Vetusta Morla, Shinova, Nena Daconte).

In this song, Rumia meditates on her childhood and how, since she was little, she always knew that what filled her heart the most was the world of arts. Singing and acting. In this song, she expresses everything she would say to her past self if she could go back. Mainly a hymn to be a dreamer and accept yourself as you are.

“This is a song I wrote for my younger self. I used to be a girl with a lot of dreams. I wanted to be an actress for a long time, but in my family I was never taken seriously in that sense. I guess we didn’t have much of a chance, we didn’t live in a capital, nobody in my family did anything related to being an artist and studying something like music or acting was too expensive, an uncertain future. So I never took myself very seriously either. I had these illusions, but I didn’t fight for it until I was older. This song is for anyone younger, to remind them to fight for their dreams.”

Driven by the Berlin music scene, her songs have evolved into more synthetic and electronic soundscapes, never abandoning the natural sounds of piano and acoustic guitar. A fresh proposal influenced by nineties genres like Trip Hop, as well as modern pop like Taylor Swift or Gracie Adams. These influences have been guided by her love of lyrics, with storytelling being one of Rumia’s most prominent skills. So she has begun to share her deepest stories about her, based on her own experiences.
