Legendary British textile designer Rosemary Moore, the creative force behind the revolutionary seamless four-way stretch crinkle fabric MAXXAM®, has announced an exciting new collaboration with ApparelTASKER, the innovative East London-based garment development and sustainable production unit founded by Zack Sartor.
This unique partnership brings together Moore’s decades of textile innovation with ApparelTASKER’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable manufacturing, marking a rare instance where a British textile designer works directly with a UK-based factory to deliver finished products for brands.
Moore, renowned for her pioneering spirit and timeless designs, is celebrated for inventing the seamless four-way stretch crinkle fabric, MAXXAM®, a material still in production after 40 years and held in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum. ApparelTASKER, meanwhile, has quickly become a leader in ethical and transparent production, offering solutions that fuse creativity with responsibility, from zero-waste cutting methods to the reuse of fabric offcuts.
Zack Sartor, Founder of ApparelTASKER says, “It’s so amazing to work with such a creative mind and see what Rosemary has accomplished so far. I think our collaboration for Mare di Moda will be something unique and innovative. Not many factories would work so directly with a textile designer, and I’m proud that we can champion this kind of creativity while keeping everything British-made and sustainable.”
The collaboration first sparked at last year’s Mare di Moda show in Cannes, where Sartor and Moore met by chance and discovered a shared vision for pushing the boundaries of fashion while keeping sustainability at the forefront. What began as a conversation quickly evolved into a meaningful creative partnership.
Together, Moore and Sartor are now developing over 30 fabric designs across different colours, textures, and patterns, alongside 15 innovative style designs, offering visiting brands a unique window into the full potential of fabric and garment design.
Their Mare di Moda 2025 stand will reflect the spirit of their collaboration with: A playful palette of bold stripes and kitsch textures, where retro 90’s classics meet holiday fun. Sophisticated two-tones dance with punchy contrasts, proving that colour isn’t just worn, it’s lived. This partnership highlights the best of British design and manufacturing, demonstrating that innovation, sustainability, and creativity can thrive together.
Rosemary Moore says, “What really drew me to this collaboration was Zack’s enthusiasm and the uplifting energy he brings to everything he does. Building a factory like ApparelTASKER in the UK over the past ten years is no small achievement, it’s unique in today’s industry. It’s inspiring to work with a forward-thinking British manufacturer that not only represents the best of 21st-century production but also understands design from a creative perspective. With Zack’s background in fashion design and ApparelTASKER’s modern approach, they’re able to really bring out the special qualities of MAXXAM® textiles. I’m excited to be working with a British-made partner that is truly moving things forward.”
With this collaboration, Moore and Sartor are setting a new benchmark for how textile designers and manufacturers can work together, redefining what it means to create responsibly, beautifully, and proudly in Britain.
