The free, diverse festival is the ultimate entertainment and foodie pop-up destination in London this summer.

The National Theatre’s hotly anticipated River Stage festival returns for the fourth year to the South Bank, London. The free, must-see festival will run for five weekends presenting an eclectic mix of theatre, drag, DJs, family fun, contemporary dance, outdoor cinema and the very best in live music acts, all accompanied by a host of delicious food and drink pop-ups.

River stageWelcoming Londoners and visitors alike, the diverse free entertainment, including takeover weekends from East London’s The Glory and HOME Manchester, will run long into the summer evenings. Guests can kick back and enjoy the festival buzz on the South Bank whilst sipping on local craft beers and refreshing summer cocktails, and tuck into the array of street food from tasty grilled cheese sandwiches, wood-fired pizzas and delicious ice cream.

This summer, the River Stage Festival promises to be an unmissable event. More details of the exciting pop-ups are as follows…

    The Otherstudy Bar

The National Theatre’s favourite craft beer hub, The Understudy, introduces its new younger cousin for the summer, The Otherstudy. Home of weekly changing residencies of some of the UK’s most exciting brewers, it’s the only place to be for beer geeks this summer.

    The Cheese Iron

New and very exciting for 2018; The Cheese Iron will be serving grilled cheese sandwiches featuring British cheeses and their very own beer mustard. Perfectly paired with a refreshing craft beer from The Otherstudy!

    Campfire Pizza

The River Stage will play host to the Southbank’s favourite wood fired pizzas, freshly made to order in our vintage Citroen van. This year introducing new vegan specials, not one to miss!

    River stage 2Melt

When the sun’s shining, indulge in an ice cream from Melt whilst you soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the River Stage Festival. This vintage ice cream van serves a variety of Northern Bloc’s 100% natural and gluten free ice cream with vegan and no refined sugar flavours available.

    The Wine Box

For those in search of a crisp glass of white or full-bodied red, The Wine Box is the pop-up for you. Featuring organic wines on draft, Nyetimber & Lyme Bay English wines and everyone’s favourite Frose! New for The Wine Box in 2018 is a range of delectable cheese and charcuterie plates to share.

    Apothecary

Following the tremendous success of the NT’s 2017 riverside cocktail bar and its bottled botanical cocktails, Apothecary returns in 2018 with a brand new offer. Taking inspiration from British culture and using amazing UK sourced ingredients, we’re confident Apothecary will be this summer’s talk of the town. An Ice Hop Cuppa anyone?

River stage national theatreThe Green Room Garden Bar

Back again in association with London craft spirit distillers, Sipsmith, the Garden Bar will transform the Green Room’s garden into an urban oasis of summer drinking and dining. A selection of delicious Sipsmith cocktails plus English wines and craft beers, there’s something for every deck chair drinker!
