Cannes, France — Hollywood icon Tom Cruise will make a grand return to the Croisette for the 78th Festival de Cannes with the world premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The film, presented Out of Competition, will be screened at the prestigious Grand Théâtre Lumière on Wednesday, May 14.

Cruise will be joined by long-time collaborator and director Christopher McQuarrie, along with members of the star-studded cast, as they climb the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals. This marks Cruise’s third appearance at Cannes, following his 1992 debut with Far and Away, and a celebrated return in 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick, where he received an honorary Palme d’Or and captivated audiences with a powerful masterclass.
In The Final Reckoning, Cruise reprises his iconic role as Ethan Hunt, the daring IMF agent he first portrayed in 1996. Promising one last thrilling mission, the film is set to deliver heart-pounding action, complex intrigue, and unforgettable cinematic moments as the beloved franchise approaches its epic conclusion.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and co-written by McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, the film is a Paramount Pictures and Skydance production. It features an ensemble cast including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Mariela Garriga, and Angela Bassett.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will release in French cinemas on May 21, 2025, followed by its U.S. release on May 23, 2025.
