2020, was a year where we have all been challenged in one way or the other, yet it has left a lasting impression on all of us whether we like it or not. On the positive, it has made us appreciate ever more how beautiful our planet truly is, and if each and every one of us takes care of it, how wonderful it will continue to be.

The Fashion Industry is the second largest polluter in the world. Fresh water and ocean pollution, accumulation of textile waste, greenhouse emissions are just a handful of examples of how the industry impacts on our environment. We collectively live in an era of the “throwaway” culture and of mass production, which is widely known to irreversibly damage our planet. Things must change. How we live must change, as the current model is not sustainable. All over the world there is now a pressing need to render fashion more sustainable.

During second lockdown, Vaishali partnered with a Woking based charity “Liaise”. They work with local women, providing them with a safe and supportive environment to network, learn new skills, get advise and information on a range of issues. With limited funds available to purchase new fabrics, Vaishali and the women embarked on a creative path to design garments from any donated piece of fabric or clothing and turn them into beautiful outfits that could be worn for any occasion.

Being in the fashion industry and wanting to promote sustainability, Vz Perfection by Vaishali launched her SS22 Sustainable Collection to a rapturous audience at Top Model Event held at The Royal Horse Guards Hotel in London during London Fashion Week.

The beautifully designed collection comprised of outfits for all occasions. It featured stunning Ball Gowns, Sequin Dresses and Jumpsuits. The Dresses all of which were created using outfits from previous collections and left-over fabrics, making it truly sustainable. The transformed, redesigned, and fresh look of the garments showcases Vaishali’s creativity which truly epitomises her brand slogan, “Simplicity with Originality”.

To everyone’s surprise, this collection also featured a Jacket for Men, which was made by combining a Denim and Tweed Jacket. This begs the question, why hasn’t Vz Perfection ventured into Menswear yet??

Staying true to her style, Vz Perfection by Vaishali produced yet another dramatic outfit for her Showstopper. It featured a long Military Style Denim Jacket made from left-over fabrics from her last year’s Denim Collection, with a detachable White Ruffle Train which was also made from left-over Bridalwear fabrics.

Creating an entire Sustainable Collection, Vaishali has well and truly changed the way we view our barely worn outfits hanging in our wardrobes. Her Sustainable Collection gives us food for thought, making us think twice before adding to the throw away culture.
