New Openings And A Historic Celebration Are Coming Soon For The Florida Beach Town

New Smyrna Beach, a charming seaside destination with an authentic beach vibe and thriving collection of art galleries, independent guest accommodations, unique restaurants and outdoor attractions, is looking ahead to an exciting 2018 as a series of new openings and a historic celebration are imminent.

    New Smyrna Beach
2018 ushers in the celebration of 250 years of New Smyrna Beach. The settling of the area by Scottish physician Andrew Turnbull was the largest attempt of British colonisation in the New World, three times larger than the first settlement of Jamestown. In summer 2018, there will be a series of celebrations, events and specials happenings across the town, for locals and visitors to enjoy.

For visitors who haven’t ventured to New Smyrna Beach before, 2018 will be a fantastic year to discover the colourful beach beauty, with the following new openings set to entice travellers, beach lovers and foodies:

    Springhill Suites by Marriott NSB
The beach town will welcome its newest oceanfront hotel, ‘SpringHill Suites New Smyrna Beach’, in January 2018, perfectly situated where the oceanfront meets Flagler Avenue’s beachside downtown district. Guests will be able to easily walk to the Avenue’s many independent dining locales, surf shops, fresh juice bars and eclectic boutiques. The all-suite 114-room hotel will offer free Wi-Fi, an oceanfront pool, fitness center, daily complimentary breakfast, a Market open 24/7 for snacks and necessities and an oceanfront bar & grill.

    Ocean Breeze Bar & Grill
Wildside NSB, known for its beachwear and rentals business featuring bicycles, golf carts, surf boards, scooters and paddle boards, has recently added a new rooftop bar and café, ‘Ocean Breeze Bar & Grill’. The new bar offers great drinks and food, complemented with unbeatable views of the Atlantic Ocean and bustling Flagler Avenue’s beach approach.

    Flagler Avenue Beach
The Crow’s Nest Bar & Grille
A brand new beachfront bar and grille overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, close to the Flagler Avenue beach approach, is planned to open in early 2018. The two-story ‘Crow’s Nest Bar & Grille’ will feature an upstairs bar with outstanding oceanfront views. American favourites will be served at moderate prices, and the restaurant will be contributing to Flagler Avenue’s eclectic live music scene.

    River Deck NSB
The infamous Ocean Deck in nearby Daytona Beach will open a second location later in 2018, overlooking the Indian River in New Smyrna Beach. Phase one will include a marina with boat slips and a full-service restaurant, with a tiki bar planned to also open soon. ‘River Deck NSB’ will welcome guests with a casual friendly vibe and a menu featuring fresh seafood, grilled chicken, steaks and burgers inspired by the flavours of the Caribbean.

Mermaid Suite Spa at Inn on the Avenue
Established and utterly charming B&B ‘Inn on the Avenue’, situated in the heart of Flagler Avenue, will begin offering in-room spa treatments in 2018. While the ‘Mermaid Suite’ will serve as the spa when not occupied, treatments will be also available in the other colourful guest rooms. A full spa menu will include facials, massages and couples’ treatments.

    And looking ahead to 2019…

    Hyatt Place at Callalisa Creek
Recently approved, developers will soon begin site work on the ‘Hyatt Place’ at Callalisa Creek. A four-story 114-room hotel designed in Florida vernacular architecture, the Hyatt Place will rise along Third Avenue across from famous Norwood’s Treehouse Eatery & Bar. Costing approximately $13 million, the new hotel is expected to welcome the first guests in 2019.

Located north of Cocoa Beach and just south of Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach offers a more authentic Florida experience to the one that Brits are most familiar with. The beach town offers miles of white sand and beach activities, fascinating historical sites, a year-round calendar of cultural events and diverse shopping and dining experiences.
