LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy has announced updates to the key dates and schedule of events for the 97th Oscars® due to the impact of the Los Angeles-area fires.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang issued the following statement:
“We are deeply devastated by the fires and the profound losses suffered by so many in our community. The Academy has always served as a unifying force in the film industry, and we are committed to standing together during this challenging time.
Due to the ongoing fires in the Los Angeles area, we believe it is essential to extend the voting period and reschedule the nominations announcement to provide additional time for our members.
Additionally, in light of the region’s infrastructure and lodging needs over the coming weeks, we find it necessary to adjust our schedule of events. We are confident that these changes will receive the support of our industry.
Our members often emphasize the importance of coming together as a community. This moment allows us to celebrate our resilient and compassionate industry while honoring frontline workers who have aided in combating the fires. We will also recognize those impacted and encourage everyone to join the Academy in supporting relief efforts.
Together, we will overcome these challenges and foster a sense of healing within our global film community.”
