London is an absolute dream for dining out and if you are like me and love you Turkish cuisine then I would certainly recommend dining at Kibele Restaurant & Bar, located in trendy Great Portland Street in London’s Fitzrovia district.
I have to say that this has to be the most stunning Turkish restaurant I have been to yet and where as soon as you step through the door you are greeted by wonderful staff and the smells of the charcoal and grills hit you straight away.
There is a very cosy yet stylish and authentic interior, providing a comfortable setting for diners of all .
The menu indeed is very extensive and has a lot of selection for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike and where the quality certainly shows on every dish you see coming out the kitchen. The menu features a mix of traditional and contemporary Turkish dishes that are produced using the freshest and most high-quality ingredients.
I was a little bit stuck for choice however the staff wear on hand with some super recommendations and for the starters there is a beautiful selection of Turkish dips that come served with fluffy warm bread but aside from the dips I would also highly recommend the kibbeh and where there are two in a portion these are quite large so you could share them between a few people easily.
Moving onto the Mains, I would certainly say to try the sharing mixed grill for two as this consists of a few of the favourite meats ranging from chicken to lamb, some tasty chicken wings, lamb cutlets and more and I have to add this dish really does make you feel like you are transported to Turkey savouring the delicious flavours on hand.
The sharing meat platter, includes and comes with a beautiful salad some Bulgar Wheat and rice and I have to say the portion is plenty even does for 2 to 3 people if I am being honest! What really made me smile and surprised me was exactly how tender both the chicken and the lamb really were. It’s quite rare that you get meat that literally melts in your mouth and where the flavours are just so beautiful, a true credit to the chefs in the kitchen.
Another must try dish is the Mousakka and I have to say this was absolutely incredible and even more special being a vegetarian dish the flavours were out of this world and perfect as well for children as it is very easy to eat yet full of goodness and many vegetables.
Other dishes on the menu include ox cheek, chicken and lamb kebabs a couple of choices for fish lovers and more.
I am always more so on quality over quantity however I do have to make a point to say that the portions at Kibele are more than generous and where for such a high-quality dining experience, the pricing is certainly reflective and fair of what the restaurant provides and where the ambience and overall experience is well worth checking out with friends family and little ones are also welcome and looked after, it’s extremely family friendly although please note that if you are dining with little ones and children, the seating will be upstairs as downstairs is more of a bar lounge entertainment space.
I would certainly dine again at Kibele Restaurant & Bar as they really did offer a fantastic and memorable dining experience with delicious food on hand. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy quality food in a vibrant setting with great transport links around the area.
