With the last weekend before Christmas traditionally the UK’s busiest period for travellers, new research by payments innovator, FreedomPay reveals that air travellers are set to spend £56m in UK airports this Christmas, parting with, on average, £62 per person in the departure lounge, every time they fly. The survey of 2,500 UK air travellers and their airport shopping habits shows that, of the average 98 minutes people spend in the airport prior to take-off, almost a third (30 minutes) of that time is spent making purchases from both Retail and Food and Beverage outlets. The 3rd Sochi International Film Festival and Awards took place from Dec. 11-16th, and it was a glamorous and glittering affair and showcased some amazing films, master classes and culminating in an awards show. The UK Gender Sensitive Parliament Audit, published today, finds that steady progress has been made in increasing the representation of women in both Houses of Parliament, but there are still too many barriers to women standing as MPs or putting themselves forward to the House of Lords Appointments Commission. The Audit found that the percentage of female MPs has risen from 18.2% to 32% since 1997 while the percentage of women in the House of Lords has gone from 7.1% to 26.1% in the same period.
