“Celebrities at red carpet events, especially ones where a show-stopping image is so supremely important such as the Met Gala, tend to wear extortionate amounts of money in the form of jewellery! I looked at the celebrities wearing the most expensive designers/ stones and analysed their looks in order to value each piece, and their overall jewellery offering.
A question I always get asked is whether or not the stars actually own this jewellery, or are gifted it and allowed to take it home. The answer is actually neither of the above. Designers lend these pieces, often worth tens of thousands of pounds, to high-profile celebrities as a form of advertisement. The celebrities often have to sign contracts in case of loss or damage, in-fact, and then have to return the jewellery after the event. This is a win-win for both designer and celebrity, and some might say an extremely sustainable way of red-carpet dressing!”.
