Burger King wants everyone to have a Whopper of a Day!

17th April will forever now be known as Whopper® Wednesday. This is the day that Burger King UK will truly embrace being the Home of the Whopper®! Taking away the choice and reminding customers that the Whopper® is an icon and deserves to be treated as the Burger royalty that it is.

On Wednesday, the Home of the Whopper® will be serving up Whoppers® and only Whoppers®. To honour Burger King’s signature, flame-grilled burger in all its mouth-watering wonder, each restaurant will be hosting a Whopper® takeover, taking menu indecision out of the customer’s hands and making the choice for them.

Make no mistake, should a customer attempt to order anything other than a Whopper® off the menu, they will swiftly be reminded that for one day only the Home of the Whopper® has only got one option. The flame grilled British & Irish beef burger for them to wrap their chops around.

Burger King want burger lovers all over the nation to have a Whopper of a day worthy of indulgence and that means big, it means ¼lb patty, juicy tomatoes, fresh cut lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, crunchy pickle, sliced white onions and a soft sesame seed bun; it means two hands and a napkin (And if that’s not quite the combination for you, then it also means freshly made to your specifications, your way, a Whopper® in all its crowning glory!)

Katie Evans, Marketing Director at Burger King UK, said: “We are so excited to treat the nation to our iconic Whopper®. The Whopper® is Burger King’s pride and joy, and for one day only we think everyone deserves to get involved, tuck in and savour that flame grilled goodness on us. Burger fans have no choice, but in a good way. Hope you understand. After all, Burger King is not called Home of The Cheeseburger!”

In addition, in participating stores ONLY, people will be able to claim a free Whopper®! To do so, customers simply need to download the Burger King UK app, register and go to their nearest participating branch to claim their free Whopper®. For those not able to pop into a Burger King on the day there will be no need to worry, we’ll be adding a free Whopper® to all Burger King orders on Deliveroo on 17th April.

In stores, all eyes will be on the Whopper® as it takes over menu boards and replaces all mentions of other burgers. Like its name, it will be as big and unavoidable as possible; taking it way way back to the beginning, back to basics, no frills, no onion rings, no bacon, no hot sauce, no jalapeños. Every member of staff will be taking orders for a good old fashioned, fresh taste sensation: the iconic Whopper®! Sometimes simple is better and we all need to be reminded of that.

Make it a Whopper Wednesday on Burger King – Go On. Say It

Whopper Wednesday Video – On 17th April we are ONLY going to sell Whoppers®. If you try to order anything other than a Whopper®, you will be served a Whopper®. We trialled this at the Burger King UK Brentwood branch. The video contains real people and as such real reactions. At first there was confusion but soon people caught on. The Home of the Whopper became just that, Whoppers® and only Whoppers® were served and people got on board!

Follow Burger King on Twitter @BurgerKingUK and Instagram @burgerkinguk and download the free app on the App Store or Google Play.
