Nestled in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside is the beautiful 4-star hotel The Cambridge Belfry, situated in the idyllic village of Cambourne.
This hotel boasts a mass of luxuries facilities and is perfect for a weekend getaway or even more of a luxurious longer stay where you can combine a relaxing stay with a host of spa treatments to suit your needs.
As soon as you reach the hotel you’ll be blown away by the stunning grounds it lies upon and with it’s beautiful surroundings of greenery and lakes, it’s no wonder this hotel is a favourite for couples and families alike.
There is a beautiful restaurant called The Bridge restaurant which serves something for everyone but all with the quality at its highest and then there is the bar lounge which has everything from light bites to sandwiches, to heavier mains courses. A few favourites which I wanted to share with you would be the haddock and chips and the Italian Pizza, they have a fantastic selection of pies as well as arrange of tasty hot and cold sandwiches.
The staff at the restaurant are always on hand to check in with you but also make sure they do everything they possibly can to ensure you have a fantastic stay and I have to say that they give you a lot of their time which also adds to the personal aspects of your stay.
The rooms are beautiful and modern, they are spacious and airy and have all the facilities you would need ranging from tea and coffee machines, flat-screen TVs, hairdryer and toiletries and even thick, fluffy bathrobes and slippers. The beds are extremely comfortable and perfect for achieving that great night’s sleep. If you’re like me and you love your sleep on a great mattress, then rest assured, you will literally have the best night’s sleep at The Belfry Cambridge.
During your stay, I would certainly say to pay a visit to the spa and if you can, treat yourself or your loved ones to some real R&R.
The hotel has a stunning spa and has everything from massages to pedicures on hand and if you just want to go for a swim, jacuzzi bath or sauna then these facilities are also available for use as a guest. Families can also enjoy family swim times as there are set times where kids and families can enjoy use of the pool.
The Belfry is excellent in terms of location as it’s only 7 miles from Cambridge town so there is lots to see and do in the local area and with Cambridge being a town full of history and wealth, there are some hidden gems to go and explore with a great range of bars and restaurants, antique stores and more around you.
Evening times at the hotel are perfect, there are several areas heading towards the bar lounge and restaurant where you can relax in comfortable surroundings and enjoy some drinks and dinner with friends and loved ones. The evening dinner menu really does shine bright as there are dishes ranging from British Cuisine to Sri Lankan and Indian dishes and more. There are salads on hand, starters to share, lighter bites, pies and other mouth watering mains on offer. If you do have little ones with you, the hotel have a kids menu on hand.
A real standout dish for me was the 10oz Rib Eye steak which comes accompanied with baby gem, rocket and Parmesan salad, beer battered onion rings, thick cut chips or French fries. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was a very tasty and hearty meal, one that made me leave smiling. It was tender and deliciously flavoured, a really lovely meal.
The food is served in a good time and it comes out fresh, piping hot and the portions are extremely generous too. The dishes are affordable and there’s a great selection for both meat eaters and vegetarians for both the starters and the main courses.
There is a very warm and friendly feeling surrounding you when staying at the Belfry Cambridge Hotel and there is lots to do in terms of healthier ways or walks around the grounds or even stopping to feed the ducks outside on the hotel grounds is always a hit.
Cambridge town is approximately 7 miles away and so shops are a plenty and whilst you are there, why not stop by to see the famous, exquisite and highly renound Cambridge University, most certainly a special landmark.
Overall, this hotel absolutely ticks every box and the service and overall experience was just amazing.
