From October 10 to 18, spectators of the Lumière festival in Lyon will discover a large part of the films of Cannes Classics 2020, a section of restored films and documentaries on the cinema of the Cannes Film Festival.
Cannes Classics will thus celebrate at Lumière the 20 years of In the Mood for love by Wong Kar-wai. Presented in Competition in 2000, In the Mood for Love , by Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai, won its lead actor, Tony Leung, the Best Actor Award and won the Grand Prix from the Superior Technical Commission at the Festival de Cannes.
Also on the program, the 60 years of Breathless and L’Avventura , of the great authors (Federico Fellini, Pier Paolo Pasolini), the first film by Joan Micklin Silver (to whom Lumière 2020 is dedicating a retrospective), the first production by Juliet Berto, rediscoveries of the Cannes 60, 68, 73 and 81 Festivals, from yesterday’s cinema to today’s world with the first film by Melvin Van Peebles, a film about Charlie Chaplin that will make a date, Bruce Lee revisited and other cinema must-haves.
