Paris, May 24, 2025 — The winners of the prestigious Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival have been announced, spotlighting bold and innovative storytelling from around the world.

This year’s selection featured 20 films, including nine debut features, all contenders for the Caméra d’Or. The program opened with Promised Sky by Erige Sehiri, setting the tone for a vibrant showcase of emerging voices in global cinema.
British filmmaker Molly Manning Walker led the Un Certain Regard jury, joined by French-Swiss director Louise Courvoisier, Croatian festival director Vanja Kaludjercic, Italian auteur Roberto Minervini, and Argentinian actor Nahuel Pérez Biscayart.
The Un Certain Regard Prize was awarded to La Misteriosa Mirada del Flamenco (The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo) by Diego Céspedes, marking his debut feature and a major international breakthrough.
The Jury Prize went to Un Poeta (A Poet) by Simón Mesa Soto, while the Best Directing Award was given to Arab & Tarzan Nasser for their poignant work in Once Upon a Time in Gaza.
In the acting categories, Frank Dillane received the Best Actor Award for his performance in Urchin directed by Harris Dickinson. The Best Actress Award went to Cleo Diára for her powerful role in O Riso e a Faca (I Only Rest in the Storm) by Pedro Pinho.
The Best Screenplay Award was presented to Harry Lighton for Pillion, another debut feature that impressed the jury with its narrative strength and originality.
Following Cannes, a rerun of the full Un Certain Regard 2025 selection will take place in Paris from May 28 to June 3 at iconic venues including the Arlequin, Mk2 Quai de Seine, Pathé Convention, and UGC Gobelins.
