    ELISABETTA ROGAI

    A  story about EnoArte

    ELISABETTA ROGAI

The EnoArt project started in fall 2010 in Florence (Italy) when italianpaintressElisabettaRogai discovered a brand new way to paint using red wine instead of colors. The result is that paintings’ colours change on canvas after a few months, moving from typical young wine’s colors to olders. From that moment on, mrs.Rogai painted almost 30 paintings and showed them in Italy (Tuscany, Veneto, Lombardia, Lazio) and abroad (Los Angeles and Hong Kong, in 2012, Greece and Venezuela in 2013), both in wine and artistic occasions. In Los Angeles she was invited as special guest in the second edition of “VivaVinoLA” (16th-23th May), a week of fair dedicated to italian wines, and she performed a live show at Italian Institute of Culture in front of the father of italian restaurants in LA, PietroSelvaggio, who said: “I think that every hi-level restaurant should have a wine painting of ElisabettaRogai at their walls”.

In Hong Kong (21th-27th November) she was invited to exhibit at TsimShaTsuiCenter and Empire Center 16 her paintings.

    Moreover, she went in:
    – Rome, for the Vogue Fashion Night Out 2012
    – Sant’Elpidio, for Di Arte In Vino fair (2012 and 2013)
    – Desenzanosul Garda, northern Italy
    – Florence, for the gala dinner of Great Wine Capitals network (2012)

    – Elba Island, for ElbaDrink fair
    – Verona, for Vinitaly fair (2011, 2012 and 2013 – 2014 ), the most important wine event in Italy

    – Grecia  (2013)

    – Firenze – Chianti Ruffino (2015)

    – China 2012

    – Siena – Paint DrappellonePalio di Siena august 2015

    – China 2016

    – Milano Testimonial AUDI ITALIA Innovative Thinking (2015)

    – Siena Exhibition “Nell’Anima” (december 2016)

Almost all Rogai’s wine made paintings are 70×100 cm (wine on canvas) and the charcoal used for first drawing is taken from burnt vines. The paintings shows portraits of young women, analyzed in their daily life and often related to wine’s suggestion. She also paints portraits of potential buyer or adviced features.

    ElisabettaRogai (Florence, Italy, 1953)

The work of ElisabettaRogai lives in the complex relationship between dream and matter, surface and depth, finished and unfinished. The Florentine artist has practiced and cultivated figuration since young, developing a stylistic individual mixture of figurative and informal painting. She began to exhibit in 1970, interrupting the activity almost immediately, to reappear in public to the art world in the early years of the millennium.

Rogai thus exposes its new series of paintings in his first solo in 2001 inFlorence, and thereafter a large number of events: in addition to participation in Art Cannes “Le Salon des Artistes” (Palais des Festivals, Cannes), exhibitions in Capri, Washington, Naples, Milan, Fiesole and Pietrasanta (Versilia seaside).

Meanwhile she realizes the portrait of OrianaFallaci, who opened the exhibition (2006) of Tuscany Region dedicated to the writer, and she received the commission for a large fresco celebrating the 70 years of AirWarCollege in Florence. In the same year, a painting of hers is donated to italian president of Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, during his visit in Florence.

She was also chosen to represent Florence in an exhibition for 40 years of twinning with Kyoto (2005, Japan) and the opening of the hall of the Florence Museum of Contemporary Art in Arequipa (2007, Peru), while from her painting was derived Astrid ‘s label of the official wine of the Italian presidency of the European Union (2006).

Its altarpiece and frescoes representing the Baptism of Christ was placed in the ancient parish church of Tuscany (2010), while her other paintings are housed at the Quirinale and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Her paintings on canvas jeans were presented in an exhibition at Pitti Immagine Uomo fashion catwalks in Florence (2008)

At the end of 2010 she brings to life her “wine-made” paintings, presented to the world press at Vinitaly in Verona (2011) and in many other events in between art and wine. She claim her technique as EnoArt© and put a trademark on it. This kind of technique have confirmed ElisabettaRogai as a versatile and worldwide known artist. Her last international exhibits were in Los Angeles and Hong Kong (2012), in Greece and Venezuela (2013).

On August 2013 she has been awarded with the “International Artis of the Year” prize by the Friends of Art Foundation, and she’ll receive it on November in South America.

And then many successes in her work all over the world, Grecia  (2013), Firenze paint for Chianti Ruffino (2015), China 2012 , again in China 2016, Siena – the Paint of DrappellonePalio di Siena august 2015, in Milan Testimonial AUDI ITALIA for Innovative Thinking (2015)

Technical issues live performance and exhibit

In general, Eno Art project is divided into two phases:

    1) The exhibition of paintings-made wine, ordered from the youngest to the “mature” to show how it evolved on the canvas wine (past colors typical of young wines to shades of aged wine)
    2) A live performance by ElisabettaRogai, who paints for half an hour with wine – both normal wine of one of involved companies – before the eyes of an audience, filling a canvas with wine revealing the secrets of her technique and answering to public curiosity, interacting with them. Then they will have the possibility to approach the painting and smell it, noting that still smells strongly of wine.
The wine is not used in purity, directly from the bottle, but it is previously centrifuged so as to obtain a denser liquid, able to withstand time, and yet at 100% wine. By being the first to invent the technique, and having seen how the imitators multiplied, we have registered the trademark EnoArte and patented the technique. In other words, ElisabettaRogai is the only artist to paint today in this way with wine. Live performances of mrs.Rogai are an unique marketing tool in wine’s world, and can give high visibility to any brand in a way completely out of the stereotypes.
