Founded by Vietnamese mother Tran from her home in England’s Peak District, the British label brings centuries-old artisan silk from Nha Xa, Vietnam, to Christmas gifting, with pieces from £55.

London, 21 October 2026 – This Christmas, Silk & Bears offers an alternative to mass-produced gifting: silk scarves and shawls hand-dyed by artisan families in Nha Xa, one of the last working silk-weaving villages in Vietnam, where the craft has been handed down for more than 500 years. Every order arrives in the brand’s signature gift box, with prices starting at £55.
Tran started Silk & Bears in the quiet of the 2021 lockdown, shortly before her daughter was born, half-English and half-Vietnamese. What began as a way to keep a thread between her two homes has grown into a label that has sold more than 10,000 scarves and shawls, largely through word of mouth, and has been featured in British Vogue, Grazia, Glamour, Tatler, Vanity Fair and T Magazine of The New York Times.
“I wanted to build something beautiful, made carefully, that my daughter could one day inherit and recognise as hers,” says Tran. “The artisans are the makers. I am their champion.”
Colour that lives inside the silk
Each hand-dyed scarf is coloured in small batches in Nha Xa, then carried out to dry across open fields on bamboo frames, as it has been for generations. Because the colour is dyed into the silk rather than printed on its surface, no two pieces are identical, and the slight variations along the edges are the mark of the maker rather than a flaw. The collection spans Shibori, brushstroke, ombré and block-colour wraps in lightweight mulberry silk, alongside printed silk twill scarves finished with hand-rolled edges.
