Our dear friend, the multifaceted French artist Solange Podell passed away on 3 March. As a photographer, she was committed to passing on her works to FAB UK magazine. Her thrilling life was full of twists and turns in Paris, LA, NYC and Monaco, with unforgettable encounters and friendships.
Her life started like in a movie as she was a teenage dancer, model and aspiring actress in Paris during the Occupation. She was spotted by a talent scout and went to Hollywood just after WWII. Though she did not make it there, she had a career on CBS TV in New York. She gave up acting and became a photographer. Among her unique opportunities to rub shoulders with iconic figures during shooting sessions, there were Dali, Wahrol, Grace Kelly and many others. She also became a close friend of Brando. Solange left New York and settled in Monaco in the early 70’s when Princess Grace asked her to work for her. Solange became the official photographer for tourism for the Principality of Monaco.
Not only did Solange Podell become renowned for the numerous photos she took of the Grimaldi family, she also had the privilege to attend the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix and took photos of the great race drivers of that time.
Yesterday, today and forever…
Dance In Peace. In heaven, there is another angel….
Somewhere, over the rainbow, the show is probably going on with a delicate ballerina putting on her pointe shoes…
