Harlequins and 20th Century Studios collaborate on Big Summer movie ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ for Twickenham’s Big Summer Kick-Off.

Today Harlequins have confirmed a new collaboration with 20th Century Studios to promote their blockbuster movie ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ at Big Summer Kick-Off on Saturday 27 April at Twickenham Stadium.

Releasing in UK cinemas on Thursday 9 May, the latest film in the Planet of the Apes global epic franchise is set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.

As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Teaming up for Big Summer Kick-Off, Harlequins and ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ will activate a range of exciting activations to promote the film and support Quins’ showpiece summer match against table toppers Northampton Saints in front of 60,000 rugby fans.

Harlequins CEO Laurie Dalrymple commented: “We’re always looking at new ways to reach and engage rugby and non-core rugby audiences. Our Twickenham events are incredibly important to us in developing our future fan base with over 25% of female attendees and 30% under 35 years old. This exciting collaboration with ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ gives our Club the unique opportunity to position Big Summer Kick-Off alongside a blockbuster film franchise and appeal to new audiences. We know our supporters will love this film and we’re looking forward to working with 20th Century Studios to not only promote this epic adventure but to drive new fans to Harlequins and Big Summer Kick-Off.”

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is in UK cinemas on Thursday 9 May. Tickets are now available to purchase here.
