Personalised gifting group, Historic Newspapers, announces today a new, Illustrated London News Archive Book – a collectable for any history enthusiast. The special edition newspaper book is available to purchase now, retailing at £29.99.
The new London Illustrated News Book is a collection of vivid pictorial newspaper covers from the publication, featuring the illustrated work of distinguished artists and engravers from the era. Released during the boom of the Industrial Revolution in 1842, the London Illustrated Newspaper established itself as the world’s first fully illustrated newspaper to depict a moving panorama of the Victorian era and thereafter.
The content of the book is determined by any date selected between 1930 to 1988. From 1930, the newspaper was a weekly publication up until 1971, where the periodical then became a monthly edition. Any date picked between 1930 to 1971 will receive 52 front pages from their selected year, plus 10 iconic front pages, whilst any date selected from 1972 onwards will receive 12 front pages, plus 50 iconic front pages.
Kevin Sears, E-commerce Director at Historic Newspapers, said: “This new Illustrated London News Archive Book is a unique keepsake for any recipient, portrayed through truly enchanting illustrations.
Not only does the book shed light on the enigmatic Victorian period of London and thereafter, the newspaper itself was a journalistic revolution and first of its kind. Personalizing the book just adds that final touch of nostalgia,” he adds.
