Life-changing injury inspires local London lad to launch unique skate wear clothing line

As a young boy, Max dreamt of turning pro and competing at the highest level in his sport. It wasn’t until he suffered a horrific knee injury aged 17, rupturing his ACL ligaments and requiring key-hole surgery that his dream soon became a distant memory.

Ten years on and unable to skate again due to complications in his recovery, Max quit his 9-5 recruitment job and has launched his very own skate wear clothing brand.

“After my injury, I knew I’d never be able to skate the same way again. The thought of not being able to skate again was heart-breaking, but I wanted to still feel close to the sport. That’s when I introduced my skate wear clothing line, hoping to inspire others in a similar situation to me, whether in sport or not, that even at your worst times, you can still take good from every bad situation.”

Max says his design ideas and inspiration come from current underground skating subculture trends. He shapes his products in a way skaters can easily wear them in and out of the pit.

“I try to take my designs off the beaten path and onto the London backstreets. The most exciting thing about my brand is that it is created for skaters by someone who’s grown up with a passion and love for the sport. I combined the grime of the London underground culture with modern trends, which translates in my unique clothing line.”

The Max Lami skate wear brand officially launches in the UK on July 10th and is a fresh, exciting brand, resonating the feel-good energy skateboarding communities conveys.

“Although I can’t skateboard anymore, I still want to help people enjoy it through my clothing and designs. I want to bring a different feel and concept to the skate wear industry.”
