In the light of Milan Fashion Week, The Oriental Fashion Show raises the curtain on its 42nd edition!
On February 22, 2022, in partnership with the Monegasque Chamber of Fashion and Monte Carlo Fashion Week, the Palazzo Turatti will host, for the second time, at 7:30 pm, the Oriental Fashion Show.
Several European and Oriental fashion houses will parade in this place full of history and in its luxurious lounges, for an unmissable meeting around cultural and artistic values
On this occasion, the Oriental Fashion Show unites designers like: Rym Menaifi, “house Menouba” Algeria, Jitka Klett, Czech Republic, Khadija Chraibi “house RENA”, Morocco, to offer a dreamlike and borderless journey.
This edition will resume the telling of the story of civilizations with common values that are found on the fashion scene.
Where fashions change and follow one another, the Oriental Fashion Show represents more than a fashion show. Over the past few years, this event has become a real forum for the free expression of its designers. Their undeniable talent, their artistic creativity and the richness of their traditional heritage find freedom of expression through unique and authentic collections, revealing to the public the excellence of these designers.
MENOUBA
CONSTANTINE – ALGIERS
JUBA & SELENE
On a mild summer morning, MENOUBA contemplates the majestic tomb on top of a green hill facing the azure blue of the Mediterranean. In this tomb lies Cleopatra Selene, only daughter of the most famous lovers of antiquity: Mark Antony and Cleopatra. She was named after the goddess of the moon in Greek mythology. Orphaned at the age of 10, she was raised in Rome, near her future husband and king of Mauritania, a Roman territory in central Algeria and northeastern Morocco. Her husband would be Juba II, son of Juba I, king of the Berbers.
Born in Hippo in Numidia, now Annaba, a city in the north-east of Algeria, he was an orphan just like her. A hostage of war after his father’s defeat against Caesar, he was taken to Rome, where he was raised by Octavia, sister of the future emperor Augustus.
Two identical destinies that met to make of their differences the solid base on which they built their love. They ruled over the Berbers in the land of North Africa and they made the culture and the arts flourish there, the remains of which are still present around the city of Cherchell or CESAREE. From this moment of meditation on the greatness of these two destinies was born a collection with Byzantine, Greco-Roman, Carthaginian and Egyptian influences on a Berber background. Each piece is set with embroidery inspired by mosaics to sublimate goddesses and nymphs straight out of the imagination of the designer.
Rena
RENAISSANCE
Let me tell you the story of Rena, my new Moroccan inspired clothing brand born from our workshops in Casablanca.
I grew up and lived in Casablanca until I reached 18, then I lived in several European capitals, Paris, London where I spent many years working in the finance sector, Madrid and Milan
After exploring the world, both professionally and personally, today I naturally return to my roots and heritage with RENA, which is the abbreviation of my mother Renata’s fashion house, founded 40 years ago, but which also means Renacimiento in Spanish, Renaissance in French, Reconnection in English.
The idea behind my first line is my personal interpretation of the Moroccan caftan and how to bring this beautiful and rich traditional heritage into my modern lifestyle. So I imagined a totally versatile caftan that can be worn in different ways for different types of occasions, always in a very personal way. A unique piece, which we spent time individually imagining and designing in our workshop in Casablanca, which then spent a full week under the care of a single maâlem. Like a piece of jewelry that you connect with and personalize. A special piece, that makes you feel like the special woman you are. Something really beautiful.
