This summer, to commemorate 100 years of women’s suffrage, Pop Up Screens, presented by Benadryl, will be collaborating with the Guildhall as a part of their Women: Work & Power season. The outdoor cinema pioneers will be screening Suffragette along with other films that celebrate female empowerment from 13th- 15th August.
Catch the box office hit Wonder Woman for one night only within the historic seat of government. Nibble on a sourdough wood fired pizza and enjoy the early Hollywood feminist sass of Thelma and Louise on 14th August. The Guildhall screenings will end with a flourish, showcasing the hard hitting and critically acclaimed Suffragette on 15th August. Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan and Natalie Press tell the heroic tale of Emmeline Pankhurst, Maud Watts and Emily Wilding Davidson’s ‘hot blooded’ and ‘riveting’ (Telegraph) quest for female recognition in a male centric 20th century. It is indeed ‘a drama about human rights so recently and dearly worn’ (The Guardian) and a story absolutely worthy of your time at Pop Up Screens this year.

Kick- ass women will be celebrated throughout the Pop Up summer slate. Disney’s epic recreation of Beauty and the Beast, which showcases Emma Watson at her finest, will be showing at Ravenscourt Park, Hammersmith in early August. Later on in their outdoor cinema season, Pop Up will welcome 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri to their new screening location Priory Park in Crouch End. The Academy Award winning female protagonist, Frances McDormand, is the ‘superb as the stoical, strong-willed’ (The Independent) and ‘hugely funny’ (NME) mother, Mildred Hayes.
