RICKY DIETZ is Pierre Baigorry and Jamaican-Canadian R&B singer Sway Clarke.
Within Berlin’s hyper-local music scene, it wasn’t long before the two musicians would stumble into each other, allowing them to create their unorthodox, irresistible blend of R&B, dancehall and afrobeat.
Already a successful singer in Germany, Pierre joined forces with Sway – himself a hit songwriter for the likes of John Legend and Tinie Tempah – to create “Lemonade Drip” – a danceable, soulful, dancehall-tipped sound that Pierre and Sway would travel all the way to Lagos to perfect. The product of the duo’s combined influences is the kind of tongue-in-cheek cool that’s only cemented by the absolutely bonkers, genius video that makes perfect sense once you realise all of the names and styles involved.
Polished, insane and undoubtedly talented, Ricky Dietz have gone from hyper-local to transnational, and this debut release together with its stunning visuals, will make you dance, make no mistake.
