Romulo Café and Restaurant now doing takeaway which means delicious Filipino food straight to your door!
Romulo Café and Restaurant – the five star (yes it’s five star – read our review of it here from last year (fabukmagazine.com/romulo-cafe-london-review) is now doing takeaway – great news!
Located on Kensington High Street, Romulo will deliver their unbelievably delicious food to your door. The family run business (they opened up their first cafe in Manila to celebrate the legacy of grandfather General Carlos P. Romulo) had to shut down, like every other restaurant, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. But lucky for us they have decided to open their kitchen for takeaway – and it’s food that you must really experience. On my visit there last year me and a friend tried multiple dishes, and even to this day I still think about the food, the experience, and the lovely and very friendly owners Rowena and her husband Chris.
Highly recommended on the takeaway menu is the 5 Course Tasting Menu for Two (£40). This comes with Crispy Squid, Pork Belly Humba, Chicken and Prawn Wok-Fried Rice Noodles, Honey Glazed Chilli Beef, and Ube Cheesesake – a feast of finely selected items that won’t break the bank but may break your tastebuds because the dishes are so delicious. Other items on the takeaway menu include the highly recommended Baby Back Ribs (£8.50), Lemongrass Chicken (£8.75), Milkfish (£8.00) and assorted vegetable and meat/fish dishes, and a must try Mango Float.
As well as local deliveries, they have extended their delivery area to include most parts of London using Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo. Or if you are in the area pop in to get your food to go!
Rowena and her team will ensure you experience all the taste and flavour of world-class Filipino cuisine straight from their kitchen to your door. They will even create a spread that reflects your own personality, tastes, and of course budget. It’s Filipino food that has to be eaten. My review of Romulo Café and Restaurant last year ended with ‘Romulo is just simply a perfect place.’ And while we might not be able to enjoy the food in the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant at this time, having it delivered to your door is second best, and at this time, it’s the best option in town.
