The internationally acclaimed Royal Ballet and Opera has announced its highly anticipated 2026/27 Cinema Season, bringing world-class opera and ballet productions to audiences in more than 1,500 cinemas across 50 countries worldwide.
The new season features a dynamic mix of beloved classics, major new productions, and exclusive live broadcasts from both The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet, alongside special presentations from The Metropolitan Opera.
Among the highlights are two major new opera productions: director Barrie Kosky’s highly anticipated conclusion to Wagner’s epic Ring cycle with Götterdämmerung, and Netia Jones’ contemporary reimagining of Mozart’s Così fan tutte in her Main Stage debut for The Royal Opera.
The Royal Ballet’s cinema programme includes celebrated productions such as Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon and Romeo and Juliet, alongside Liam Scarlett’s Swan Lake. Family audiences can also enjoy festive favourite The Nutcracker and Christopher Wheeldon’s magical Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland during the Easter season.
The UK-exclusive cinema programme will also showcase two new productions from The Metropolitan Opera, including Verdi’s Macbeth directed by Louisa Proske and Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West staged by acclaimed British director Richard Jones.
Oliver Mears, Director of The Royal Opera, described the upcoming season as “exhilarating,” highlighting the return of celebrated productions such as Tosca and Carmen alongside innovative new stagings.
Kevin O’Hare, Director of The Royal Ballet, said the company was delighted to share “a wonderful selection of ballets to delight and entertain” audiences around the globe.
The season opens with Macbeth from The Metropolitan Opera on 20 October 2026 and concludes with The Royal Ballet’s Romeo and Juliet on 25 May 2027.
