Spring Summer 2017

Andrew Majtenyi is a London-based designer, who set up shop in Clerkenwell in 2009. Theatrical, abstract and slightly futuristic influences are constant in his work, which attracts the attention of celebrities including Nicki Minaj, Jess Glynne, Donna Air and Daisy Lowe.

Ndrew Majtenyi’s SS17 collection is inspired by the fifteenth-century French writer Christine de Pizan, who was one of the earliest female authors in medieval Europe. Christine de Pizan challenged her culture’s stereotypes of women and is best known for writing ‘The Book of the City of Ladies,’ in which she defends the abilities and achievements of women.

Majtenyi’s Spring Summer collection has been designed using rich textured brocades and metallic infused woven fabrics which have in turn created a futuristic feel. After extensive research into medieval costume and Victorian tailoring, this season was created using modern fabrics combined with historic 15th & 19th-century cuts in a color palette of soft tones including sorbet’s, off white’s, dusty pink’s and nudes.

Price points wholesale vary from £80 to £600, and  you can view previous collections online at www.andrewmajtenyi.com

Studio HJ designer Hema Joshi was inspired by Tibet for her Spring Summer 2017 collection, in particular by its breathtaking sceneries and its vibrant colors. The collection showcases pieces inspired by the Tibetan culture, costumes, and architecture. Each piece shows a different angle of Tibet, be it their symmetrical houses, layered and decorated costume pieces or intricate embroidery and symbols.

Keeping the Tibetan traditional textile usage in mind, the collection sees a range of fabrics used including cotton, silk, brocade and suede. Hema has also included pure crepes and chiffons for her more statement pieces as well as including Studio HJ’s signature fabric; lace. The collection has stayed true to the traditional Tibetan look and has been styled with geometric paneling and structural cuts while keeping in mind the modern woman.

Prices range from £400 – £1500 and her full collection can be viewed online at www.studiohj.co.uk
