As seasons change, we are constantly being presented with new hip fashion trends. However, truth be told, keeping up with trends can sometimes feel too stressful, not only on your mind but your wallet as well. Thankfully, this year, we will see plenty of old favourites coming back in style.
This not only means that you can easily dive deep into your closet and probably find an old favourite you can rock once more but it also opens the door to pre-used and second-hand shopping. Old favourites paired with just some new trendy pieces will be all the rage in the spring/summer season of 2020. Check out some ideas.
Loosen up
Finally, the time has come to leave all the tight-fitting clothes in the past where they belong. No, we’re not saying they didn’t look nice and yes, we do like a figure-flattering outfit but let’s face it – there’s nothing comfortable about skinny jeans! This year, the trend seems to be running away from them as far as possible. Loose jeans and trousers are coming back in style. A laid-back vibe that can be achieved with some baggy jeans, a somewhat oversized t-shirt and a pair of comfortable men’s shoes will be dominating the scene in 2020.
Get edgy
Every good look needs so have some edge to it. This year, that edge comes in the form of men’s blazers. Since every season, we seem to be more and more open to various prints, the most popular blazers – usually worn as jackets – will rock a distinct pattern. Hound’s tooth and a classic checkered pattern are great but they’re not super-edgy. However, dark florals and bold patterns will bring just the right amount of edge to your otherwise plain outfit. What’s more, if you pair a patterned blazer with some baggy shorts and combat boots, you’re definitely gonna turn some heads.
Pockets!
Another good style trend that we can expect to see more of this year is anything featuring pockets. So, it’s safe to say that the fashion trends for this year won’t only cater to style but practicality as well. Wests with pockets, cargo pants, pocketed jeans and many other outfit pieces will come equipped with these nifty additions. But don’t think for a second that this trend will eliminate the need for some sort of a bag. Instead, think more in terms of “dad on a vacation” vibe. So, get your fanny pack and your cargo shorts, put on some orthopedic sandals and get ready to look stylish while being super comfortable at the same time.
Prep it up
In the end, a touch of a preppy vibe is never too much. You can literally top any outfit with a nice statement long-sleeve button-down but make sure you wear it unbuttoned. Underneath, you can go for a simple tank top or even a cool mesh shirt. The accent piece of such an outfit should definitely be the button-down so feel free to go as extra as you feel comfortable. However, in order to fully rock this trend, it won’t be enough to just go bold. Instead, you should think in terms of oversized as well. Throw some penny loafers to the mix and spice everything up with a cool blazer and you’ll be good to go.
As you can see, a lot of fashion trends we can expect to see this year actually already have their roots in past fashion staples. What this means is that there’s a good chance you will find that you already have some of these pieces neatly tucked away in your closet. If not, chances are you can easily hunt them down in your nearest thrift store. So, keep these trends in mind the next time you go shopping and be smart with your money. Before you do, go through your closet and see which of these outfit pieces you already have and which you need to invest in.
