Following the surge in London’s huge appetite for all things vegan, the UK’s first vegan doner kebab stall, What The Pitta, announces the opening of their third and flagship branch in Camden, London, on Friday 9th March 2018.

vegan kebabWhat the Pitta’s unique kebabs use non-GMO soya chunks, marinated in a blend of Middle Eastern spices and grilled for a smoky kebab flavour, providing the perfect healthy, guilt-free meal. The bread is handmade on site in front of customers and filled with homemade hummus, tzatziki, fresh salads and now the famous seasoned soya. With prices for the Vegan Doner Kebab starting from £7.95, the menu also includes a variety of purse-friendly, meat-free options such as Turkish pizza, a couscous salad box and baklava.

What The Pitta was the brainchild of British-Turkish friends Cem Yildiz and Rojdan Gul. Cem had had recently become vegan and was passionate about the health and environmental benefits of going meat-free, but was missing the grilled flavours of his favourite Turkish foods. As it happened, Roj’s uncle had been perfecting his own cult vegan kebabs in Germany for years, so after an educational trip to learn the secret recipe, What The Pitta was born and their first pop up opened in August 2016 at The Pump, Shoreditch.

Co-Founder Cem Yildiz comments: ‘We are so proud that what started as little stall in Shoreditch has grown so quickly, and we’re now opening our third stall and continuing to provide good, tasty food with added health & environmental benefits to hungry Londoners. We have found that a lot of our customers are meat reducers, rather than strict vegans, and it’s great to see more and more people becoming conscious of where their food is coming from. It really helps people to be meat-free more often when they have tasty and satisfying alternatives, and we hope to continue to fill that market in 2018 and beyond.’

What The Pitta vegan kebabs opens their latest branch in Camden, London on Friday 9th March 2018.
