What a fantastic day out of London – a show and meal at The Mill at Sonning – and the show on offer now is ‘White Christmas.’ No other theatre offers what The Mill at Sonning does.
‘White Christmas’ is a fantastic production – full of Christmas joy, amazing singing voices, great costumes, and a wonderful cast. It’s a perfect show for this time of the season. This show whisks us back to the early 1950’s, when the Ed Sullivan show was on television, dressing up everyday was normal, and people were respectful of each other. The story, if you’ve never seen a production of this show or the 1954 film, has ex-soldiers and song and dance men Bob (Jason Kajdi) and Phil (Connor Hughes) enlist two beautiful sisters – Betty (Gabriella Williams) and Judy (Nic Myers), to put on a show at a Vermont lodge in the middle of winter (though it’s 79 degrees and no snow) to help their old commander who owns the lodge, which is struggling financially. With 21 songs, romance (and eventually love), and a bit a drama all mixed in bring us a show full of holiday cheer, and a huge smile.
The meal before the show will also have you smiling. Tis the season for turkey and all the trimmings – buffet style. Simply superb food that comes with a choice of a fantastic dessert – so the meal and the show all under one roof and all included in the price!
But getting back to the show, I cannot rave enough how great it is. The cast are all in sync with each other, and perform to perfection, especially Shirley Jameson as the lodge receptionist – she’s simply perfect. It is a perfect pick me up with all this gloomy weather outside, and it will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit.
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, then you definitely must see ‘White Christmas’ because you’ll definitely experience one – it’s a must see!
‘White Christmas’ ends on January 25, 2025
