Valentine’s at Camden Market with Motown Supper, Cupid’s Cabaret, Valentine’s Rooftop Cinema and an Amy Winehouse Back to Black live tribute.
Having welcomed thousands of people into their multifaceted venue over the festive period, FEST Camden now look to the lovers. Throughout February the historic spaces will be theatrically and thematically transformed to offer myriad cosy ways to spend an afternoon or evening, from romantic films at the Camden Rooftop Cinema to Cupid’s Cabaret via a special Motown Supper.
From February 10th until the 17th (except Friday 15th), a carefully curated selection of movies will be shown at Fest Camden’s Rooftop Cinema. When Harry Met Sally, William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, Dirty Dancing, True Romance and The Notebook are just some of the films you can enjoy in this winter themed space. It is a magical getaway that has live music, a fully stocked bar and wood fired pizzas all on hand so you can treat yourself and your loved one right. Offers include two tickets and two warming boozy favourites such as mulled wine or cider, or a range of seasonal cocktails, as well as bottomless salty popcorn offers and plenty of delicious pizza, wine and draft beer.
On Valentine’s evening itself, The Birdcage Cabaret Club at FEST Camden will be decked out with classy romantic decor and red roses on the tables, while a specially seductive cabaret is hosted by Cupid herself aka drag legend Ruby Murry. The cute and cuddly evening will feature burlesque, drag acts, circus and song and dance and you will be involved throughout so pulses will race as the sauciness ramps up.
In addition to this show of stunning performances, you will enjoy a delicious three course dinner, drink on arrival and entry to the club night so you can celebrate all night long with special guest and West End Star Rosalind James (Les Miserables, Rent, Little Shop of Horrors). The menu will feature rump of lamb, goats’ cheese crostini, risotto spinach tortellini and passionfruit cheesecake, amongst other delicious treats.
The same evening at FEST Camden’s live room will celebrate all things Motown as you’re taken on a trip down memory lane with a fully immersive swinging sixties dining experience. The Motown Supper evening is a tribute to the legendary Motor City sounds that became the beating musical heart of America and whose legend endures to this day. Three courses of the finest soul food will all be washed down with a welcome drink while the incredible live band will be performing all the biggest and best tracks from the likes of Diana Ross and the Supremes to Marvin Gaye.
This inclusive series caters for happy singles and groups of friends as well as lovers. Friday 15th February is National Singles Day, so why not mark it with a trip FEST’s Winter Chalet for rooftop cosy cubby holes with blankets, mulled wine and boozy hot chocolate? Or join in a celebration of the legendary Amy Winehouse for ‘An Evening With…‘. It will see a fantastic tribute and backing band play the soul great’s most moving album, Back to Black, in full, so will be a great one to lose yourself in, with the option of seeing the show only, or combining it with dinner. Failing that, if you want to get down, Friday night club event Drunk In Love is where you can party till you drop at FEST Camden from 10pm, all in a friendly and colourful environment.
