With clinics reopening soon, many have been booking appointments and preparing themselves for a post lockdown transformation. This can be an overwhelming period for clinic, spas and mobile beauticians as adapting to the new social norm whilst maintaining their services will leave little time to adjust. Therefore, it is best to be prepared so your customers feel comfortable and at ease.

All treatments are set to be popular and appointment slots are in top demand, but which ones are anticipated to be the most fully booked? Lockdown has seen many at home-based beauty treatments become the latest trends, but this is all set to change once the beauty clinics and salons open their doors again. To help predict the demand, Hamish McNair, Clinical Director at Candela Medical has revealed the most popular search terms for beauty treatments in the UK.

    • Microblading

Microblading has seen an 80% increase in search terms since mid-March. Microblading is about creating the best eyebrow shape for each face. The precise process uses a pen tool with a sloped blade with 10-12 little needles at the end, the light scratch finely implants strokes which resemble hair strands, on the epidermis later for the skin, creating fine and realistic results.

    • Lip Augmentation

Lip Augmentation searches have risen by 80%. The desire for a full pout hasn’t changed since lockdown began and many are eager to book their cosmetic lip treatments. Lip augmentation refers to lip fillers, laser enhancements or injections that can temporarily or permanently improve the size and shape of your lips. These treatments can increase the fullness and enhance the definition of your lips to create a more desirable and youthful appearance and defined smile.

    • Laser hair removal

Interest over time shows that from mid-March, there has been a 50% increase of searching for laser hair removal. Laser hair removal works by heating the hair follicles to stop new hairs from growing, this puts the hair follicles in a state of dormancy for a long period of time. The laser produces light energy which enters the skin and is absorbed by melanin surrounding the hair follicle.

    • Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning has seen a 40% increase in search terms, during lockdown, at home dermaplaning has become a popular beauty trend with brands releasing razors but it looks like nothing can beat the in-clinic treatment. Dermaplaning is a highly effective physical exfoliation treatment. The treatment involves a medical-grade blade to gently shave the surface of your skin and remove dead skin cells and fine, vellus hairs in the process. It also triggers the cell regeneration process leaving your skin healthier and brighter.

    • Gel Nails

Gel nails searches have risen by 40%, lockdown has seen an increase at home nail manicures, but with the news of salons reopening, nail appointments are in high demand. A gel manicure uses a gel-based polish and requires a UV or LED light to cure the polish and lock it onto your nails, making it more durable than regular polish.
