Are you considering booking a family holiday to the sunny island of Lanzarote? Or have you already secured your trip and are looking for fun activities to do?

Whatever stage of booking you’re at, we’re here to help you plan the holiday of a lifetime. That’s why we’ve put together a list of four fantastic water-based activities you can do during holidays to Lanzarote, taking advantage of the sun, sea and sand.

    1. Dolphin and whale watching

Did you know that Lanzarote’s waters are home to a huge variety of marine life?

Canary Islands Tourism says “you don’t need to go far from the coast to find dolphins, finback whales, pilot whales [and] sperm whales”.

If you’d like the opportunity to see these beautiful creatures up close, we recommend booking a family-friendly boat tour that takes you out onto the Atlantic.

There are many options departing from Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero – so we’re sure you’ll find a suitable option wherever you’re staying.

    1. Snorkelling and scuba diving

Why not explore the underwater world by going snorkelling with your family? There are many incredible spots to discover across the island, including Playa Chica.

Here, you can swim in the crystal-clear waters with your family and marvel at the colourful fish.

If you have older kids and want to go scuba diving, there are currently 26 dive sites around the island according to PADI.

Popular areas for exploring the depths include Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca.

Another option is to visit the only underwater museum in Europe, Museo Atlántico, where you can dive among an array of incredible sculptures.

    1. Family boat trips

Looking for a fun and exciting way to explore the island? Why not set sail to enjoy beautiful views of the coastline from the sea?

There are various family-friendly boat trips to choose from, such as glass-bottom vessels that allow you to marvel at the marine life below.

Catamaran cruises are another great choice. You can book a shared excursion with fellow holidaymakers or book a private cruise for your family.

Look for operators that stop at idyllic spots for swimming and provide water sports equipment during the day.

    1. Water sports

Get your adrenaline pumping by taking part in some action-packed water sports with your family.

Lanzarote has plenty on offer, including jet skiing, parascending, banana boat rides and paddleboarding.

If you or your children want to learn how to surf, you could head to the Surf School based in Caleta del Famara.

You can choose one-day starter lessons or multi-day courses, depending on how long you want to perfect your skills!

Which of these amazing activities will you do with your family during your trip?
