LONDON — Fashion house AADNEVIK has officially presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled “Persephone: Between Paradise and the Underworld.” Designed by Hila and Kristian Aadnevik, the new range draws direct inspiration from ancient Greek mythology, exploring the duality of death, rebirth, and the transformation from innocence to power.
The collection charts Persephone’s mythological evolution—from the young goddess of spring gathering flowers in sunlight to the ruler of the Underworld—translating her dual identity into contrasting structural and textural elements.
“Persephone is the romantic heroine of this collection; a woman caught between innocence and darkness, fragility and power,” said designers Hila and Kristian Aadnevik. “We were fascinated by her transformation. She begins surrounded by flowers and sunlight, descends into a mysterious world beneath the earth, and returns changed. There is something incredibly beautiful in the contrast between the young goddess of spring and the woman who becomes Queen of the Underworld.”
The Palette and Narrative Arc
The collection unfolds in distinct visual acts, moving from weightless romance to dark drama:
- The Awakening (Light Palette): The opening looks feature porcelain white, ivory, pale blush, and delicate botanical shades. Key materials include silk chiffon, transparent tulle, and French lace, detailed with handcrafted floral appliques, fine embroideries, and crystal accents designed to evoke morning dew.
- The Descent (Structural Transition): Laced silk corsets and braided leather elements emerge beneath soft fabrics, offering a sculpted silhouette. Romantic floral motifs darken as the color story transitions from light tones into pomegranate red, midnight blue, and black.
- Queen of the Underworld (Rich Ornamentation): The pomegranate serves as a central emblem throughout the darker looks. Deep red crystals, intricate beading, and jewel-tone embroideries mimic scattered seeds against black lace and transparent silk.
Through this narrative arc, AADNEVIK explores the tension between vulnerability and authority, establishing a dual aesthetic for the modern wardrobe—one that balances light and shadow. As the design duo summarized: “From darkness, she blooms again.”
