ARIADNE, the latest SS25 collection by Felipe Rojas Llanos marks not only his long awaited return to LFW,- but also the first time that Felipe will feature his womenswear designs in the city that shaped his career.
ARIADNE is the intersection of draping and tailoring, and draws inspiration from Ancient Greek Mythology, specifically the story ofAriadne and her abandonment on the island of Naxos. Ariadne risks her life and status to save her beloved Theseus from the Minotaur, and they escape together to the island of Naxos. When she awakens to realise that Theseus has abandoned her, she experiences incomprehensible grief. In her moment of darkness, she is able to find strength from within, and is then found by the god Dionysus, who declares his love for her and turns her into a goddess.
ARIADNE is told intertwining the fashion show with ballet performance. The role ofAriadne is performed by Amelia Ida Bang Coleman, a professional ballet dancer, who interprets her story through 3 arcs of her journey from mortal to goddess.
ARIADNE shows couturesque details and draped statuesque use of fabrics as the main feature of the collection. The inspiration shows futuristic element of minimal cutting that reference 2003 Helmut Lang meets 1980’s Yves Saint Laurent, futuristic mythology in light summer tones evoking the shimmering sea and tones of the summer sky the collection features shades of Blue dominating the pastel and stone colours.
“This collection is light, joyful, colourful, crisp, holographic, futuristic, bold, and strong. This is a story of courage, resilience, growth, and humanity and reflects my bewonderment and deep admiration for the female spirit in times of hardship. I am truly ecstatic to be back home at LFW and present this new era of my work.”
