Audi celebrated a big moment at the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards (Sunday 12 May 2019). On a night commemorating the very best in British TV talent, some of the big names were chauffeured to the top of the red carpet in the first all-electric car from Audi – the e-tron.
Benedict Cumberbatch (Patrick Melrose), Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who), Ruth Wilson (Mrs Wilson) and James Norton (McMafia) were among the talent to step out of an Audi e-tron and electrify the red carpet at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
This was the first time Audi included the zero-local emissions model within its chauffeuring fleet. Embodying the famous Vorsprung durch Technik philosophy, this is part of the Audi mission to move into a future underpinned by electric mobility.
The Audi e-tron, which has just touched down in the UK, is the first of 20 electrified models planned for the Audi line-up by 2025. Brimming with the latest technologies, the car can reach an 80% battery charge in as little as 30 minutes. [Charging time possible via 150kW UK Ionity network currently under development.]
Naturally, the e-tron fitted seamlessly into its glamorous surroundings at the awards with the understated sophistication – synonymous with Audi.
Fully charged for the evening by his electric arrival, Benedict Cumberbatch was one of the richly deserved winners of the evening.
Patrick Melrose picked up two BAFTAs. This saw Benedict Cumberbatch demonstrate his incredible acting skills in his portrayal as the troubled and arrogant aristocrat.
