A highlight of the collection was a white mini dress adorned with hand-stitched ostrich feathers—an heirloom piece retrieved from Birsen’s estate. This sentimental garment set the foundation for the collection, symbolizing her impeccable style and deep appreciation for timeless fashion. The emotional connection was further emphasized through intricate polka dots, pearls, and floral motifs inspired by the dahlias from Birsen’s cherished garden.

Aksu’s signature delicate silk chiffon dresses featured pressed floral appliqués, exuding a sense of romance and nostalgia. The collection’s color palette of ivories, taupes, and butterscotch creams complemented the ethereal designs, while lace headscarves reminiscent of his mother’s elegance added a sentimental touch.

The runway show took place in the picturesque gardens of St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden, a venue chosen for its symbolic connection to Birsen’s love for gardening. The setting, bathed in natural sunlight, amplified the poetic tribute that resonated throughout the collection.

Aksu collaborated with a talented team to bring his vision to life. Styling was led by Leith Clark, while Janeen Witherspoon at MA+ GROUP created the makeup look using Lisa Eldridge products. Hair styling was directed by Davide Barbieri, and casting was managed by Noah Shelley at Streeters. The show’s production was orchestrated by Antony Waller, with music direction by Craig Maddison at MADD Creative.

Bora Aksu’s Autumn/Winter 2025 collection stands as a poignant tribute, transforming personal loss into artistic expression. Through exquisite craftsmanship and heartfelt storytelling, the collection cements Aksu’s reputation as a designer who weaves emotion into every stitch, ensuring that his mother’s legacy endures through fashion.
