PARIS — Chinese outerwear giant Bosideng marked a major milestone on October 5, 2026, making its official Paris Fashion Week calendar debut with its 50th-anniversary runway show, titled ‘The Bloom’.

Held at the landmark Hôtel Pozzo di Borgo—the 18th-century Left Bank residence formerly owned by Karl Lagerfeld—the presentation signaled the brand’s complete transition from functional garment manufacturer to high-fashion house. Following previous presentations in New York, Milan, and London, the landmark Paris event highlighted Bosideng’s expanding global presence.
“Staging this showcase in such a historic Parisian setting brings half a century of expertise into focus,” said Gao Dekang, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Bosideng Group. He noted that the show reinforces both the brand’s legacy and ongoing cultural exchange between China and France.
Synthesizing Heritage Craft and Modern Architecture
Designed by Creative Director Pietro Ferragina, the Autumn/Winter collection reimagined down apparel through a synthesis of Western structural lines and classical Chinese artistry.
The collection balanced Art Deco geometry against traditional Eastern textile techniques. Central to the construction was the integration of Haipai qipao silhouettes—the Shanghai-style tailored dress featuring iconic stand collars—alongside Song brocade, a historic silk technique originating from Suzhou during the Song dynasty.
By pairing lightweight feathers with structured quilting and heavy silks, the design team actively challenged traditional perceptions of down outerwear as heavy or shapeless.
Four Distinct Design Orientations
The runway presentation divided the collection into four distinct sub-lines, each targeting specific lifestyle demands:
- Extreme Cold: Engineered for severe climates, this line featured sculptural silhouettes inspired by formal eveningwear. Layers of tulle, satin, and high-loft down were assembled using bespoke panel-cutting methods, reshaping heavy workwear standards into fluid gala attire.
- Outdoor: Combining technical mountaineering features—including waterproof hardshell systems and moisture-management fabrics—with fluid Haipai draping. Reimagined qipao side slits and overlapping panels offered mobility while transitioning seamlessly from alpine environments to urban settings.
- Business: Tailored specifically for modern professional environments, this range utilized precise, low-profile cutting to control outerwear volume. Structured tailoring was softened with delicate lace and flexible textiles to maintain formalwear aesthetic standards during winter commutes.
- Puff (Paofu): The brand’s signature line focused on ultra-lightweight construction. Utilizing 3D-moulding technology and characteristic O-shape tailoring, the pieces paired geometric Art Deco accents with modified qipao stand collars.
The presentation concluded with a monochromatic sequence of head-to-toe pink down evening gowns, departing from standard winter color palettes to emphasize high-fashion craft.
High-Profile Industry Attendance
Set against the gilded, crystal-lit backdrop of the Hôtel Pozzo di Borgo, the venue was converted into an immersive indoor garden space matching the collection’s theme.
The front row featured prominent figures across international fashion, entertainment, and media. Attendees included supermodel Coco Rocha, actors Mao Xiaotong, Michelle Chen, Ouyang Didi, and Chen Tianxiang.
Industry leaders in attendance included:
- Sherry Lang, Managing Director of Condé Nast China
- Giampietro Baudo, Global Executive Director of L’Officiel (France, Italy, USA)
- Nicolas Delarue, Director of Communications and Development at the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM)
- Hervé Huchet, International Director of PROMAS
- Nathalie Dufour, Founder and General Manager of ANDAM
Alongside the runway presentation, an archival exhibition documented the brand’s 50-year design history, showcasing past creative collaborations with Jean Paul Gaultier, Kenzo Takada, and MSGM, alongside key technical milestones like its trench-style and ultra-lightweight down jacket lines.
Global Market Expansion
Following the runway event, celebrations transitioned to the Eiffel Tower’s Gustave Eiffel Hall for an anniversary gala titled ‘The Next Great Chapter’, led by Jet Gao, Group Vice President and General Manager of International Business.
The event capped five decades of growth for the manufacturer. Bosideng has maintained its position as China’s top-selling down outerwear brand for 31 consecutive years. Today, the group operates across 72 international markets with over 200 million consumers worldwide, anchored in Europe by its global flagship retail location on London’s Oxford Street.
Having debuted its Master Puff line on the sidelines of Paris Fashion Week a year prior, Bosideng’s entry onto the official calendar confirms its long-term ambition: cementing down outerwear as a permanent fixture within the international luxury market.
