Talented International violinist and Austria UNICEF ambassador Yury Revich performed at an extraordinary concert in London in support of the charity on 23rd November.
The event, organised by his charity foundation Dreamland, took place at St John’s Waterloo and was attended to full capacity.
Yury, who played on a Stradivari violin dated 1698 worth in excess of £11 M, was joined at the event by film star and author Rupert Everett, who signed copies of his newly released book The American No and read extracts from it. He had rushed back from the matinee performance of the play Barcelona, where he congratulated leading actress Lily Collins – his co-star in the latest series Emily in Paris – to join his friends and support the charity. The book is a collection of humorous short stories about the star’s experience with Hollywood producers, told in his inimitable style.
Yury Revich
Offering the ultimate violin experience with the priceless Stradivari, violinist and composer Yury Revich played to a rapturous audience well known and much loved music from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Bizet’s Carmen, as well as his own compositions.
Yury is a multiple award winning musician who has played in the world’s leading concert halls such as La Scala in Milan, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic and Tokyo Metropolitan amongst others. As a composer, he must be the first to combine the heavenly sounds of a 17th century Stradivari violin with electronic music of the 21st century.
His album is on the Netflix series Bridgerton soundtrack and he is in the Top 100 classical billboard charts
Yury is also passionate about the environment. Staging a campaign against pollution, he came to London in 2020 and played angelic music on his Stradivari violin on London Bridge to draw attention to the ongoing crisis.
A multidisciplinary event
The concert was a multidisciplinary event with outstanding artists from the world of ballet, poetry and art, who were also given the opportunity to showcase their talent.
Prima ballerina Natascha Mair, principal dancer of the English National Ballet and previously of the Vienna State Ballet, delighted the audience with a performance from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
Author Judymay Murphy read from her newly published Monster-Proof Poetry, while Austrian artist Martin Tardy created live artwork in front of the audience using both hands simultaneously.
Multiple Grammy award winner musician and record producer William Orbit, entertained the audience with his own compositions of electronic music, and award winning pianist Matthieu Esnult, who had performed at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, showcased his mastery of the keyboard.
Dreamland
Yury created Dreamland in 2017, a charity using the power of music and different art forms to help children in need to create their own dreamland – a place where they can prosper with proper education and health care. Yury and his team have created over 80 fundraising events over the past 7 years.
