Mary Martin London, the fashion label founded by designer Mary Martin, is set to feature at African Fashion Week London 2026 (AFWL), bringing its distinctive approach to contemporary fashion and cultural storytelling to the event.
Known for bespoke designs worn by celebrities for red-carpet appearances, Mary Martin has developed an international profile through collections presented in destinations including London, Accra, Brazil, Ghana, South Africa and Scotland.

Martin’s work draws heavily on Black culture and heritage. Her contribution to charitable causes in Ghana has also earned her the title of Queen Mother. One of the notable milestones in her career came when she became the first woman of colour to showcase her work at London’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Her “Return Collection” challenged established historical narratives while placing cultural heritage at the centre of her creative work.
Raised in Wales, Martin developed an interest in fashion from an early age before pursuing formal fashion education and establishing her own label. Her career has since included numerous awards and recognition for her work across the fashion industry.
Textiles, innovation and sculptural form remain central to Martin’s creative practice. Her designs have attracted interest from the music and film industries, as well as celebrities seeking distinctive looks for red-carpet events.
Through her work, Mary Martin continues to serve as a role model for emerging designers while exploring the relationship between fashion, culture and identity. Her appearance at African Fashion Week London 2026 adds another chapter to a career built around creative experimentation and cultural expression.
