AZURE LAZULI
Designed by minds and made by hands in downtown Toronto, AZURE LAZULI mixes structured architectural shapes with bohemian detailing to create contemporary handbag designs that are made using traditional hand tooling techniques instead of machines.
Their goal is to create interesting designs that are timeless and versatile while supporting the Canadian economy and respecting the natural environment.
CHLOË ANGUS
Chloë Angus is the founder and lead designer of CHLOË ANGUS DESIGN, a Canadian design company that thrives on creating contemporary, collaborative, fashion and home décor for men, women and home. Chloë works directly with Indigenous artists across Canada to create precedents for respectful collaborations. Proudly based and made in Vancouver, British Columbia, since 2004, the CHLOË ANGUS DESIGN team and artists skillfully infuse Indigenous art into everyday style.
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Canadian singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie, renowned primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall and former Premier of British Columbia, Christy Clark, are all fans and admirers.
DEMONTIGNY
The DEMONTIGNY brand by Angela DeMontigny is known for sleek silhouettes, fluid shapes and glamourous pieces for every day.
The FW19 capsule collection’s contemporary retro vibe includes a sexy, fitted leather pant suit, long, leather pencil skirts with sheer silk printed blouses and dramatic oversize shirts in soft suede.
The 8-pointed star design, a consistent design element from past collections, appears in appliqués on leather, beaded appliqués, brooches, earrings and bags. DeMontigny was recently awarded the Mind, Spirit, Body Award at the 2018 Brilliant Minded Women Awards.
HANIA KUZBARI
HANIA KUZBARI is a line of hand-crafted, sustainable jewellery made from 14k and 18k gold, sterling silver, diamonds and gemstones such as colored sapphire and tourmaline.
Made in Amman, Jordan, and featured in Vogue, the collection is inspired by a simple yet profound message to the world: to fight darkness with smiles and to bring happiness to others, one person at a time.
The company’s focus is about creating artistic, uplifting jewellery that women can cherish.
KRIPPIT
The struggle to walk in heels, especially on uneven surfaces, is an obstacle for many women. Entrepreneur Melissa Chung decided that it was time to stop the struggles and ease the pain by creating an innovative, 3-D printed high heel protector.
The high-tech solution uses 3-D printing to form the outer shell in a durable resin and silicon to create the inner liner. Each piece in the KRIPPIT collection is embellished with a bit of bling to add some sparkle for the woman who likes to add a little shine to her shoes.
RON WHITE
RON WHITE is a luxury footwear brand for women and men worn by A-listers such as Celine Dion, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, actors Jeremy Irons and Rob Lowe and Fashion Television icon Jeanne Beker.
Named by Condé Nast’s Footwear News as Global Independent Retailer of the Year in 2011, the collection can be found in its namesake boutiques across Canada as well as in Nordstrom, Hudson’s Bay and The Shopping Channel.
For FW19 designer Ron White plays with new toe shapes, asymmetric heels and unique custom materials such as knitted leather and metallic embossed suede.
SANS SOUCIE
SANS SOUCIE is a women’s ready-to-wear sustainable apparel line designed by Katherine Soucie, an award-winning designer who has been recognized by the British Columbia Achievement Foundation.
The FW19 collection, entitled INHERITED, makes a self-reflexive statement on ancestry, heritage and alchemy. Pieces are textural yet simplistic, made from hand-dyed, printed and embroidered waste hosiery and waste ends collected from the manufacturing process (acquired from Gildan, Montreal).
Worn by singer-songwriter Norah Jones and Oscar-winner Halle Berry, the collection can be found in the SANS SOUCIE Atelier in Vancouver, Canada, as well as in Tokyo, Japan, and Westport, USA.
VANDAL
For FW19, VANDAL by Ronald Tam revisits the art of classic tailoring, utilizing a wide range of wool tweeds, meltons, leathers, silk blends and brocades to conjure an exquisite offering of street-inspired women’s outerwear, two-piece suiting and standalone, focal garments.
Attention is paid to exquisite details, from fine hand-beaded embellishments to innovative embroidery techniques applied to contemporary silhouettes.
American recording artist Mya and Canadian actor Laura Vandervoort are fans of this luxury-driven streetwear brand.
