BRAND STORY
Mustafiz Hakim is a brand that salutes artisanship- be it the weaving techniques of traditional Bengali weavers or the sustainable wool manufacturer in Italy. As a brand, our focus is to promote sustainability in the form of using hand woven fabrics, hand embroidered pieces and techniques that take nature into consideration.
The main fabric used in Mustafiz Hakim’s first collection is Jamdani. Jamdani, originally known as Daccai (Dhakai)- named after the city of Dhaka, uses a sporadic weft technique of weaving. This vivid pattern, sheer fabric is traditionally woven on handloom by craftsmen near Dhaka- the capital city of Bangladesh. In 2013, the traditional art of weaving jamdani was declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Although founded in Vanarasi, India, Benrasi sari is the oldest and reputed traditional textile in Bangladesh. The fabric is woven in a handloom using silk threads and gorgeous patterns are created on it.
The aesthetic of Mustafiz Hakim is to use the traditional technique of such artisanship and to create a luxurious brand that will emit an aura of elegance, power, and modernity. A piece that can create a presence in the boardroom, as well as stylish enough for fun night.
Mustafiz Hakim is the brand child of Humaira Mustafiz and Sofian Bin Hakim, brought into existence through their unified love for fashion and the Bengali tradition and culture.
Mustafiz Hakim – a brand woven with love, fashion, and heritage.
