There are few contemporary artists who by dealing with pop art also talk about social aspects, denouncing its fragilities and injustices, one of them is undoubtedly Fred Bugs.
But let’s start more slowly by beginning to talk about post pop art..born as a real art movement in the late 1970s in America, more precisely around New York and as time passed this movement became popular also thanks to the contribution of artists such as Jean Michel Basquit and Kaith Haring.
Going into the specifics, post pop art differs from pop art because to the figurative and abstract part it adds real statements of help and denunciation towards a society increasingly oriented towards the creation of a single social model made of appearance, exaltation of wealth, banality, insults, arrogance or on the contrary total disinterest and indifference.
In fact, the omen of these artists will be expanded 10 years later with the birth of the various junk programs carrying total superficiality as an end in itself without any kind of study or education.
It must also unfortunately be pointed out that after the death of Keith Haring and Basquiat no other pop artist or non-pop artist reaped the benefits by seeking to keep this movement alive..no one but one Fred Bugs, an Italian artist born almost 10 years after the death of Keith Haring and Basquiat but who like them has as his intent and only idea, to restore the proper moral merit and restore personality to art and artists.
In each of his works the artist expresses emotions that go far beyond the mere vision and protest behind his phrases, the artist is certain that in the not too distant future anyone will take refuge in art and culture and have the courage to expose themselves and take positions contributing so that their ideas and morals come out and do not remain dormant and persuaded by the frenzy of modern life.
Two years ago, the artist Fred Bugs took a trip to Shenzhen (China) and visited several galleries of mainly abstract art including the peculiar design structures of the MOCAPE museum and the peculiar dark-colored oil paintings of artist Li Binyuan at the Pingshan Art Museum The artist, touring the city had plenty of time to see the tapestries, carpets and masterpieces of Chinese art, sewn on silk and other materials, depicting warriors and kings in their daily routines; true masterpieces of the past that still continue to be so relevant today.
