Signature Entertainment has released the official trailer for Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution, the latest instalment in the long-running British crime franchise. The film is scheduled to arrive in UK cinemas on 28 August.
Set in 1990s Ibiza, the standalone revenge thriller sees Craig Fairbrass reprise his role as Pat Tate. The new chapter blends the franchise’s established crime drama with large-scale action, international intrigue and a fresh cast of adversaries.
Ahead of its theatrical release, Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution has been selected to premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, marking the series’ first appearance at a major film festival. The screening will take place on 17 August as part of the festival’s Midnight Madness strand, representing a significant milestone for the franchise.
Plot
The story follows Pat Tate as he travels to Ibiza seeking revenge for the murder of a close friend. His mission soon draws him into a weapons trafficking operation led by ruthless mercenaries, played by Tamer Hassan and Leo Gregory. As the operation is also under close surveillance by the CIA, Tate finds himself pursued by arms dealers, mercenaries and American agents, leading to a violent struggle for survival.
