The fifth-season finale of Apple TV’s acclaimed comedy series “Trying” will premiere globally on Wednesday, August 26, exclusively on Apple TV. The series stars and is executive produced by BAFTA Award nominee Esther Smith and Actor Award nominee Rafe Spall.

The season five finale, titled “WoodScott,” follows the family as truths begin to emerge during a family festival.
What to Expect From Season 5
Season five sees Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) facing the consequences of Princess (Scarlett Rayner) and Tyler’s (Cooper Turner) biological mother, Kat (Charlotte Riley), arriving unexpectedly at their doorstep. Her return brings a new wave of disruption to the family life Nikki and Jason have worked to establish.
The season’s ensemble cast also features BAFTA Award winner Darren Boyd (“Down Cemetery Road”), BAFTA Award nominee Siân Brooke (“Blue Lights”), Actor Award nominee Celia Imrie (“The Thursday Murder Club”), BAFTA Award nominee Phil Davis (“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”), BAFTA Award winner Gbemisola Ikumelo (“Black Ops”) and Actor Award nominee Colin Morgan (“Belfast”).
Since its global debut, “Trying” has been described as a “feel-good,” “poignant” and “addictive” comedy. The series currently holds a 96% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics and audiences highlighting its performances, attention to detail and heartwarming approach to stories that offer perspectives not often seen on television.
Creative Team
“Trying” was created, written and executive produced by Andy Wolton. Executive producers include BAFTA Award nominees Josh Cole and Sam Pinnell, International Emmy Award winner Chris Sussman, Esther Smith and Rafe Spall. The series is produced by BBC Studios.
For season five, the soundtrack is led by Orla Gartland, the Dublin-born, London-based artist and producer and Ivor Novello Award winner. Gartland has written original songs for the season, with a new track set to debut in each episode.
She follows Guy Garvey, Maisie Peters, Bear’s Den and BEKA, who created and performed the soundtracks for seasons one, two, three and four respectively.
