Renowned Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck has unveiled his Fall/Winter 2025 collection, marking a bold, introspective departure from his usual high-energy creative process. This time, Beirendonck adopted a contemplative approach, producing a collection that challenges nostalgia and celebrates uncharted territories in fashion.

In a world increasingly captivated by vintage and archival clothing, Beirendonck questions the unintended stagnation these trends create. “The nostalgia for the looks of old subcultures leaves little space for mind-blowing new techniques, applications, or cuts to land on the runways,” he reflects.
The FW25 collection is a testament to innovation, featuring precise tailoring, high-quality fabrics sourced from English and Scottish mills, and cutting-edge 3D-printed pieces. Beirendonck masterfully blends ancient Dutch craftsmanship with futuristic technology, creating “dented silhouettes” and “cubic” designs that defy convention. AI-generated images further push the boundaries, crafting an otherworldly aesthetic that brings his vision to life.
Central to the collection is the imagery of running through sunflower fields with “Alien Friends,” a metaphor for fresh perspectives and possibilities. This dreamlike narrative is realized through unique pieces such as Stephen Jones hats and silicone extraterrestrial fingers, alongside alien-inspired “couches that care for you.”
Despite the challenges of developing these groundbreaking designs, Beirendonck emphasizes his commitment to innovation. “Transforming dreams from mind mirages to stand-alone pieces can be a costly journey,” he admits. “But I consider it my duty to keep pushing what is possible in fashion.”
Walter Van Beirendonck’s FW25 collection is more than a showcase of garments—it’s a manifesto for fearless creativity. It reminds future generations that boundaries are meant to be broken and that true innovation lies in embracing the unknown.
