London | 18–20 September 2026: From intricate hand embroidery to centuries-old silk craftsmanship, Áo Dài Fashion Week London 2026 (ADFW26) brings one of Vietnam’s most enduring cultural symbols to the UK through a programme that bridges heritage, haute couture and contemporary design.

Where Heritage Walks the Runway Áo Dài Fashion Week London 2026
Designers, models, and cultural activists worldwide gather in London for the Gala Runway on Sept 20.

While many traditional garments around the world are largely reserved for ceremonial occasions, the Vietnamese Áo Dài continues to play an active role in everyday life. Worn in schools, workplaces, family celebrations and national events, it remains woven into the cultural fabric of modern Vietnam, carrying personal memories and shared traditions across generations.

Natural fibres, organic textures and landscapes of Vietnam inspire collections that celebrate the connection between fashion, culture and nature.
Natural fibres, organic textures and landscapes of Vietnam inspire collections that celebrate the connection between fashion, culture and nature.

From 18–20 September, this living heritage arrives in London through a three-day programme of runway presentations, exhibitions and cultural exchange.

Organised by the Vietnamese Women and Children Association in the United Kingdom (VWCA) under the patronage of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United Kingdom, the event explores a rare fashion phenomenon: a traditional garment that has never stopped evolving. Rather than presenting the Áo Dài as a historical artefact, Áo Dài Fashion Week London examines how heritage can continue to inspire contemporary creativity, craftsmanship and design. Staged in one of the world’s most influential fashion capitals, the event offers an international platform for new conversations between tradition and modernity, East and West, preservation and innovation.

Exquisite craftsmanship takes centre stage, showcasing rare textile, embroidery and dyeing traditions passed down through generations of Vietnamese artisans.

Master Artisans, Contemporary Voices and Heritage Craftsmanship

Leading the couture showcase is Meritorious Artisan and Designer Lan Hương with her collection Hành Tinh Phồn Thịnh No.2 (Prosperous Planet No.2), featuring hand-embroidered creations inspired by the landscapes, colours and cultural traditions of Vietnam’s ethnic minority communities.

Bringing a contemporary perspective is Thai Nguyen Atelier, the label of Vietnamese-American designer Thái Nguyễn, whose work gained international attention after bringing the Vietnamese Áo Dài to the Oscars red carpet. His designs explore the evolving relationship between heritage and modern lifestyle, offering a refined interpretation of the garment for a global audience.

Adding another dimension to the programme is The Lụa La Khê, representing one of Vietnam’s last remaining communities preserving the traditional craft of weaving lụa the gauze silk. Their participation highlights the artisanship and cultural knowledge embedded within every stage of the Áo Dài’s creation.

Alongside these featured names, the event brings together a curated selection of designers and creative talents whose work reflects the versatility and continuing evolution of Vietnamese fashion.

A programme where fashion meets culture

Hosted at Leonardo Royal Hotel Tower Bridge, the programme includes:

    • Couture Áo Dài Runway Show – showcasing high-end collections distinguished by exceptional craftsmanship and artistic expression.
    • Contemporary Áo Dài Runway Show – presenting modern interpretations that reflect the garment’s place in contemporary life.
    • Heritage & Craft Exhibition – exploring the history of the Áo Dài alongside Vietnam’s traditions of silk weaving, embroidery and artisan craftsmanship.
    • Industry & Cultural Networking Reception – bringing together designers, cultural organisations, diplomats, media representatives and creative professionals.

More than a fashion event, Áo Dài Fashion Week London 2026 offers a unique opportunity to discover how a centuries-old garment continues to inspire new generations of designers, artisans and wearers — proving that heritage is not something preserved behind glass, but something that continues to live, evolve and walk the runway.
