I spent my evening at the The Lanesborough, tucked into Knightsbridge, right by Hyde Park and just moments from Hyde Park Corner tube station.

The Garden Room Terrace in one of the newest and latest spaces at The Lanesborough for indoor/outdoor dining and honestly feels like a hidden extension of the hotel—it’s elegant, relaxed, and designed for long, unhurried dining enjoyment.
The hotel itself has this classic, almost timeless feel. It’s not flashy in a modern way—it leans more into elegance and history, with beautiful interiors that make it feel more like a private residence than a hotel. Everything feels calm, polished, and thoughtfully put together, which sets the tone before you even sit down.
From the moment you walk in, the staff set the tone and greet you so wonderfully and automatically, you can feel it is going to be a perfect few hours.

We dined at the Garden Terrace, and the atmosphere was honestly one of my favourite parts of the evening. Soft lighting, greenery, and a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax and switch off. It had that rare balance of feeling special without being too formal.
The food was just as enjoyable. We started with crispy lamb skewers with coriander, mint, and cumin—the meat was very tender, full of flavour, nicely spiced, and really satisfying. The classic Caesar salad was fresh and simple, but done properly, which made it stand out in its own way.
The marinated octopus with grilled potatoes and saffron was a personal highlight. It was tender with a slight char, and the saffron added a subtle richness that brought everything together without overpowering it. The food portions were infact perfect, not what I had imagined as a very good size and certainly filled and hit the right spots.

To finish, we had the Lanesborough lemon tart, which was light, zesty, and the perfect way to end the meal—ut was refreshing without being too heavy.
The drinks were well made and paired nicely with the food, but what really stood out was the service. The staff were attentive in a natural, effortless way—always there when needed, but never intrusive. We were really well looked after from start to finish, which made the whole evening feel smooth and relaxed.
Overall, it was one of those evenings where everything just worked perfectly —the setting, the food, the drinks, and the service all came together wonderfully. I left feeling genuinely happy, already thinking about when I would return.
Whether you’re there for cocktails, dinner, or just to stretch an evening out a little longer than planned, it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself wanting to return to and where I’d highly recommend this beautiful restaurant day or night.
The Garden Room terrace is open 7 days a week from noon until very late and the menu is seasonal. Blankets are also available if seating outside.
